DLR On TV

Don't miss Dave on Leno tonight, Ferguson on this Thursday and The View on the 14th of this month.
What did anyone think of Dave on Fox news yesterday?

Well, that was....interesting. I would love to have taped this show and given it to Diamond Dave of 1978 and told him, "THIS is what you will be doing in thirty years"!! I don't care how old he gets, he just doesn't look right with short hair, not to mention a BUTTON DOWN SHIRT?! He just doesn't grow up, why should his look?! He played "Jump" with at least an eight piece band. It was a ho-down!

Embarrassing to watch, Roth was goofy, the musicians did a good job though.

DLR's voice sounded pretty good to me. The band was tight -- never thought I'd enjoy a banjo solo!

Still not sure if I like this new rendition better than Paul Anka's cover of "Jump." However, it's way better than Pat Boone's version of "Panama."

Then you aren't a Steve Martin fan. He blazes on the banjo on his old comedy records.

Hope to catch DLR on Leno on YouTube.

Anyone see this on the front page?

DAVID LEE ROTH SUGGESTS ONLY EDDIE STANDS IN THE WAY OF A REUNION:
Diamond David Lee Roth has just appeared on Fox News, and naturally talk shifted to his earlier Van Halen re-union comments. I'm not sure about Dave's techniques used in trying to win over Eddie Van Halen! This time he called Ed - Eddie Van Winkle and stated that he was the only person holding up a reunion.
Interesting...check it out for yourself via the video link: www.foxnews.com/cavuto/index.html.

Love the Van Winkle comment and 'Drew's remark about it...

Still making friends, ol' Dave.

I thought he came across pretty good in that Fox clip. He compared Eddie to Axl, saying he has "issues".

I dunno, for some reason I can't get excited about a DLR/VH reunion. I think it would just make me long for the old DLR.

Just finished watching the TiVo of it. I didn't think it was too bad. But DLR is a fish out of water. The perma-grin was hideous. And he kept looking like he wanted to do something but telling himself not to...the finger-snapping, the hip-shaking. He just looked lost. But I am glad he got rid of the hair, he was starting to look like Doctor Emmitt Brown from Back To The Future.

Is this what he is touring behind? Or will it be a rock show?

Say what you will, but put him back in VH now and you've got a tour that equals the stones and U2.

Yeah, that would be unbelievable.

Which would you all prefer? A final tour with DLR/VH, or a tour with half DLR/VH and half Sammy/VH, then VH carries on with Sammy?

How about the latter. With them carrying on with Dave. I know the Sammy-fronted version would probly have a better shot of being built to last, but I can't shake the Dave reunion fantasy and wanting it to happen.

There's no doubt ticket sales would be through the roof. But it would be wholly obvious that it would be a "cash grab" tour from the get-go, because everybody knows DLR can't stay in key. Plus, seeming him try to reassume his old stage persona would be hilarious (not in a good way). I believe this is why the VH brothers haven't gone ahead with this, but were just fine with a revisitation of Van Hagar in '04.
