Too long to copy paste the entire article, here's the relevant part:

http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?BRD= ... =461&rfi=9

Journey, on the other hand, couldn't be in worse shape. The bottom line is fans are still clamoring for a reunion with erstwhile vocalist Steve Perry while sound-alike and curly-haired look-alike Steve Augeri is doing his best as a karaoke replacement. And according to recent rumors, even that aspect may not be going so well.

Reports are that Augeri hasn't exactly been singing live. It's not lip-syncing mind you, but the charge is that he has had some assistance in reaching the high notes his predecessor made so famous in the '80s on monster hits like "Faithfully" and "Open Arms."

Rock Music Menu isn't a huge fan of Journey to begin with; the music the band produced is dated, as is its popularity. You don't see anyone singing "Don't Stop Believin'" unless it's done ironically, or they have a mullet and drive an IROC.

Whether Augeri is innocent or guilty is not the point; if you are going to trot out a nostalgia-fest in front of paying customers, at least do right by them - bring in the original singer if he is ready and willing.

I for one would not wish Perry back even on a Good day.
nor do see Journey as a nostagia act. I pay money to see them to hear
not only some of the old songs. I want to hear the new songs too,.
what does he have to do to be accepted, walk on water,
or cut his wrist and write in blood that he is singing.
this is sooo tiring now,

No, just sing. And do it hopefully decent. He hasn't proven yet he can sing well live. Not once in 8 years.

He certainly has at the multiple shows that I have seen him at and he has done it quite well.
The guy needs to prove nothing to me because in the past 8 years he
has sang his soul and heart out and done so
quite well. Not to mention that he is a decent person.
there should be more people inthis world with his talent and integity

He might want to be a part of a good album. One that has enough chemistry and something the fans like. The album sales for Augeri are the fans way of saying, "This new music sucks." He's a karaoke singer, they found at The Gap and before that he was part of an obscure band that enjoyed minimal success. He has not and will not be accepted. Especially now that he can no longer provide the band with his karaoke skills. He's completely useless other than a prop to reap profits from this fraudulent tour.

People need to stop with this "integrity" B.S.

There's NO integrity in keeping mum on what could make or break a band.

IF the rumors are true, then Integrity shall never be spoken again about this line-up of the band.

I have heard from alot of people that they like the new music. we were talking to Deen after one of the shows last fall and
we told him how mush we enjoyed the arrival cd and which songs we liked.
I think the problem is a lack of label support or any kind of promotion.
most people don;t even know they have a cd out.
personally I bought a cd by another artist the same day the generations cd came out and except 3 songs I think it sucks.
I have seen Journey with Steve Augeri many times and I
don;t see him as a karaoke act. The tall stories cd rocks and I
think it is worth a listen.

I happen to think they tour WAY too much!

Back in the day, you wouldn't see them every year. I salivated when I heard a new "record" on the radio. I had something to look forward to. Now I can see them every summer if I choose to. I have more important things to do with my money than spend it on people who don't put out new music before every tour. If I want to see a greatest hits tour, then I go once, and that's it.

The "faithful" sometimes are too faithful. And yes, I USED to be one. There's more important things to life than being proud of spending thousands of dollars on ONE band. Fawning over the members of a band is ridiculous, that band member isn't going to remember you in 5 minutes.

ANYONE who thinks a CD or DVD of a concert is straight away a recording of the actual event is nuts. Unless a person recorded it themselves, you have no comparison to actual live performances.

I couldn't agree more...but when you can't create music people want to hear the only way to make money is to tour. This tells me that mangement realizes the lineup isn't studio talented enough to take a chance on so they milk their faithful fans every summer. Def Leppard has been advertising like crazy....everywhere. Journey will reap the rewards of this promotion and they really don't deserve too. The tour will do very well, but it won't mask the fact that this band is in sad, sad shape.

Yes, I've heard him sing great live. I wasn't at the taping of the 2001 DVD so, no, not that show.

I guess your next statement is that you somehow have a recording of every show they ever did and you have absolute proof that Steve Augeri has never sung a live note in his life. I guess he also isn't even singing in the studio. No, he's mute and can't even talk. Neal throws his voice and Steve is just the puppet. That's where you're going to end up if you keep expanding your ridiculous allegations.

It's a fact and should be well known that bands don't make (much) money on the actual CD, but that their money comes from touring. But excessive touring burns out even hardcore fans.

I can't count the number of times people told me to shut up about Journey. Now I just want the band to go away like they should have a while ago, so they could have been remembered as something greater than what they will be thought of now.

Well, don't you think he really should sing? I mean, it is his job.

Yeah he is singing on those. I am not comparing those.

Again.

Another accusation.

The Live DVD 2001 Las Vegas, is NOT even a Live DVD! It was recorded in studio.

But don't you know the theory? SA never sings live--he hasn't in years and no matter how close you were, you can't tell. Only Dean can tell. Somehow the engineers and SA fool all of us. Or maybe they are hypnotizing us--I'm sure that's it.

Oh, sorry--see you keep changing the allegations. So now Steve has actually sung live a few times? So he was singing live in 2001, just not in Vegas I guess--is that it? I thought it was 4 years and then 8 years that he hasn't been singing live. What's your latest theory?

Nothing he says anymore makes sense. Time to check yourself in, buddy. Do it for your loved ones. Even stalkers do BAD things to get a bands' attention.

Mrs H & La Women

I am with you 100% , the story keeos changing too fit the need. My point was that I have seen SA perfrom as we all have and in my opion he is singing, If I could copy my review from Hollowood Fla last year I said I didnt think he sounded the best I have heard him. The best I heard him was West Palm 2001, but I was also the closest then too !!!!, Thanks for your support ladies !! 8) . Do you wanna copy of anything I have ?

This whole subject is just going into infinity. round and round and round and round... All the obvious Journey cliche sayings.

People hate Deano, they shoot their mouths off, and he comes back and give more crap. If you people don't like what Deano is saying, then stop egging him on.

Then again, this is the faceless internet, where people LOVE controversy.

Have at 'em Deano. If you are taking on water, then they need to park their boats and fiching tackle, and stop trying to catch you out tehre in the deep deep sea.
