I have always been a huge fan of their music, and just think Journey fans should be able to hear good, live Journey music. That's all I'm sayin!

I hear you. I'm just saying I think that more and more live concerts aren't really live anymore. The very first concert I ever attended was to see the Ides of March, Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show and Rare Earth. THAT was live on all counts. Dr Hook had their string section with them, Ides of March was great and Rare Earth was phenomenal. They had their technical problems, but it was all live. I'm not even sure they had much of an ability to sequence things in concert then, or even thought about it.

Today is a different story because I think crowds expect the concert performance to sound like it does on the CD. Since so many additional instruments are often used in the studio, you cannot replicate that live unless you pre-record things or sequence them. I think it's less likely to happen with "B" bands, but I could be wrong there. Not long ago, we saw the Herman's Hermits live and they sounded great. Seemed live to me and since those songs didn't have too much in the way of instrumentation, it likely was live.

You're right though...why pay a ton of money to see a band live when you're essentially hearing a ton of prerecored music? When I saw Rare Earth, the concert ticket cost $4.50!!! Gone are those days...

As soon as the Moog synthesizer came out in the late 1960's R&R started being a more total experience with the additions of it to "live" concerts. Moog usersIf you want to get technical, when Les Paul went electric pure "live" was gone.

Jon playing git on Chain Reaction

He's always played guitar on that song. Even back in the Perry days.

YEAH! Jon, we want to see you play guitar and keyboards live. At the same time if you have to!

Isn't there an instrument that will allow him to do just that? :D

JC should be playing the keys and leave the guitar to NS. JC is just being self indulgent. I don't want to go to a concert and hear keys tinkling but nobody's playing them!

I like the thicker guitar sound you get with two guitars playing and it especially fills out the sound when Neal is soloing to have Jon playing rhythm underneath the leads.

Ya, but it looks kinda funny to hear keys and not see someone playing them. That just seems contrieved IMO. Does'nt JSS play guitar? Have him do it.
