Taking the bait. What did Cain tell him?

If I remember correctly, Cain: "Do what you want but don't call it Journey." Perry replies "You know there's no going back then, right." Cain replies, "I Know."

As pissed as he was that Perry took so long I'm not sure Neal was ever completely sold on the idea of going on without Perry. I THINK Cain talked him into that one. Deano might know more.

As far as while they were touring I think you're right. However, after the long layoff(s) I think Cain started to take over the creative direction and was the one that ultimately gave Perry the ultimatum.

I tho't it was Neal who really needed the $$$ for his alimony & had to get on the road again or do sumthing. Cain was fairly well fixed financially as far as I heard thru the grapevine in Chi-town. Could just be BS tho.

According to the Swedish engineer, Elson was firmly at the controls on this. Let's stop kidding ourselves this was a BAND decision. Augeri, since he came on board, has been a TEAM player, willing to do whatever was asked of him...a humble guy, extremely greatful for a second chance at a rock career. We can take the moral high ground here, but how many of us wouldn't go along with this, if the band asked (told) us to ('you either do this or we have to get someone else').

The fact that Augeri hasn't been officially dismissed yet, leads me to believe that band, believed then and still believes, that Augeri could heal. I believe that Augeri himself feels this way. The band needs Augeri...a Perry return can not be counted on...a healthy Augeri can be.

It ticks me off that noone is angry with Schon. He is the captain of this team...Augeri should be crucified, but Neal is exhonerated? Give me a break. I'd rather go listen to Journey play to taped vocals...than to pay one damn dime to see Soul Sirkus mascarading as Journey. Generations...now JSS...glad Neal's happy, I'm not.

Augeri is done. And you're right, I blame Neal too. They can't boot Augeri yet because it would show that they've known all along his voice was done. This way, they can play the "let's see if it heals" card. Then, later this year, we'll hear: "Journey has some sad news to report. Long-time front man Steve Augeri has decided to step down as lead lipper of Journey. We wish him and his family well. Steve was an instrumental part of Journey's more than 30 years in the music business. He will be missed by all."

I agree that SA was a nice guy. My friend talked me in 2 giving him a chance. Last year we did the whole package deal. Met the guy. Seemed like a fucken gem of a man. Shook our hands & shit. How? When he knew he was lipping? I don't get that. Whether Neal told him 2 or not, u can lead a horse 2 water but u can't make him drink. Maybe Neal was trying 2 do the guy a solid. I don't know. No one does. Maybe Deano?

Got the package this yr again and saw JSS. Fuckin' loved him with SoulSirkUS and other stuff. 2 me his sounded wrong 4 Journey. But I hate to say that so quick. Bcoz I said the same thing about lipsynch boy & then he grew on me. Maybe JSS will grow on me 2. (Actually, he's so hot, he can grow on me any time but that's another topic entirely...)

Journey, from a touring standpoint, was really developing under Augeri. Another lead singer change would have endangered the band. For me to continue being a fan of Journey at this point, I have to believe that all parties involved felt that keeping Augeri was necessary and that he indeed would regain his singing voice. Let's be real here...Augeri is strictly a role player in Journey...eight years or so in the band and he barely begins to be involved in the band's creative process? Guys like Augeri and JSS will do whatever a Neal Schon wants them to...any of us would.

A lot of people on BT are begging for info on Steve, but nothing i am afraid? Posts are being locked if you complain about the lack of info,so everyone has hit a wall :!: For someone who is ill you would think a thankyou for you support post on their site would have been nice.
For the people in the know there will be an announcment regarding Steve and the band soon enough, but it stinks and for all the Augeriheads its really upsetting them i think,as much as i dislike there blind devotion they deserve something to put there minds at rest. 8)

I do believe that during the 'tapegate' sessions, the owner/moderator of that site posted here often. I have not seen her post here for a few weeks and only assume she lurks here. My apologies if I have this information incorrect.

Really? Where did you find that out? Not even Dean accused him of "lipping for years, or 4 years."

Deano said he was augmented FOR years. He lipped all of last year's tour and whatever part of this year's tour he did till he was exposed. That's TWO years.

EXACTLY. If you believe Augeri was a fraud, it follows that you should believe that JOURNEY was a fraud right along with him. The supposed 'scandal' they so tirelessly believe happened continues to this day. But, THEY are the 'blind followers', not "Augeriheads", or the "Perryheads" before them. Journey is counting on the yes-men to surround them...just as they have in the past. And, as someone said, to be surrounded by yes-men is a dangerous thing.
