Okay, sorry Deano. Someone else said it on the board here, implying that they were quoting you. My bad.

When the time comes he will probably release a statement that he cannot go on due to his health. He will tell everyone to support the band w/JSS. And the chapter will end.

Bingo! We have a winner. They will look up a throat infection on WebMD, get a date or two, calculate that from Frauds' departure, and post it then. It has to be before JSS becomes official obviously, and before the new CD comes out....
My money says you will definitely see a new Journey, Soto fronted CD next year. Their chemistry is just too good. Fuck, be like Springsteen, JSS/Neal, release two CD's at once......Just overload people with kick ass tunes.
Dude, Soto is fire...you utilize that fire and strike when the iron is hot. Drag Valory and Cains' bitch asses into the studio..Deen and Neal will already be there. Crank out the tunes. ONE singer, not 5..Put out a fucking RnR album.
I would not in the least be surprised if there was already songs in the can.
JourneyRox wrote:Sorry to butt in. But I disagree w/u Fred.
The band doesn't look bad right now to most people. They look good. Maybe like heroes even for going on w/out Augeri.
They will never ever ever ever address tapegate. If they confirm it, they look like asses & may well be liable for a class action lawsuit & refunds to fans who paid to see them. If they deny it, people will say they are lying. It's best for the band to ignore it as if it means nothing to them & is just an internet rumor.
They made their official statements on Augeri. 2 of them. They think that's all that is needed so far. The 1st was that he was gone & JSS was stepping in. They had to make another statement w/the announcement of the extended tour. They said he is being monitored by his dr. To most people they look proactive w/these statements. A 2nd statement was warranted. They made it. They've done what was needed. A few here think they look bad. Most think that's all that's needed.
The hard part is when is the right time to say JSS is the new lead singer. They have to time that exactly rite & no matter how they do it someone will be pissed off somewhere. I suspect their efforts are focused on that.
What I'm surprised at is the lack of Augeri-camp participation in anything. If he came out & said thanks for the prayers on BT this would all be more credible to the masses & would shut many up. I'm surprised Journey isnt pushing him to do that. Then again, the augeriheads are sure he has better things to do w/his time. So that would only work for the small % of fans that loved him anyway. When the time comes he will probably release a statement that he cannot go on due to his health. He will tell everyone to support the band w/JSS. And the chapter will end. Next yr "Augeri who? Oh the guy in the red leathers. I remember him sorta. But what about the way JSS hit that note? Have u seen his black leather pants? Damn I love the way he..." JSS appreciation thread on BT...all is well again in Journeyville.

If THAT happens, and it SOUNDS GREAT and they get to PLAY some of them in concert, then WONDERFUL!

JSS will be announced 2 months after the tour ends. I say 2 months because there is NO doubt that someone is going to contact Perry and tell him that this is "last call." He's plotting making a move. He sees the Journey gravy train has picked up a lot of momentum. He's not going to sit idly by. He's either hopping on or derailing it (again). They'll give him one last chance and then announce Soto. Either way, Perry's doing something this Spring/Summer. Mark my words.

It DOES sound good, eh Fred? If they cut an album with JSS, they will play a minimum of 5 songs off of it. Shit, that hasn't happened since ROR.

Technically, ROR only had 4 songs played regularly.

I don't think Perry would even consider ever returning & I don't think Journey would even ask him anymore. I think Neal & Co wouldn't want to jeopardize the momentum they have with JSS by inviting Perry back rite now. JSS could walk away & do his thing. This tour w/Journey has brought him exposure he didn't have. If Perry ever returned it would be 1 album. Neal wants more than that.
Perry won't do it anyway. He can do whatever he wants by himself & he knows it. He doesn't need Journey. He has a huge amount of people waiting for him. If he does something he'll do it his way exactly as he wants it w/the handpicked people he wants to perform with. He probably thinks Journey is a mockery of itself & who could blame him for that? He'll do his thing. Journey will do theirs. Hopefully both will have some success in their own rite. End of story.
Saint John wrote:Odds are, you're right. However, together they will enjoy small/fair success. Together, they could make some serious noise. Imagine Perry comes back and teams with Bon Jovi for a 25 city stadium tour next summer. You're looking at 40,000+ per night. 2 sometimes 3 gigs a week with non-grueling sets because you have 2 huge names. Tour of the year without a doubt. I know, I'm dreaming but it's sure fuckin' fun!!!!

As I see it, curiousity is creating a slight buzz, which will soon return to normal. also each band (Lep Journey) is feeding off of each others fan base, to create "phoney" audience figures. What has improved for Journey..are they receiving big headlines in the general music press? airplay on mainstream radio?

Jeez...we have an article in Guitar magazine in the UK this week.. with Neil Schon..... nowhere does it mention JSS, or the replacement of Augeri...and the article whines on about the tracks on "Arrival" !!!! that about sums it up!!

It would return to normal IF there is no new music forthcoming. IF Journey puts out a new CD with JSS and it ROCKS, then they will continue to build the momentum.Jeez...we have an article in Guitar magazine in the UK this week.. with Neil Schon..... nowhere does it mention JSS, or the replacement of Augeri...and the article whines on about the tracks on "Arrival" !!!! that about sums it up!!
When was the article actually written and submitted? Was it by an "in house writer" or "freelancer?" Normally, magazine issues are done three, four, or even six months BEFORE they're published. I published a magazine for 12 years and in order to get things on time, you would need at least one issue completely in the can and ready to go while working on the next and mine was only a quarterly. If it's a monthly, it pushes it back even further.
