Steve Augeri.. That dude NEVER missed a single note last year..well, from the 8th show on at least he never did....Dude was flawless. He was so good in fact, I could swear he sang the song the same way every night, which is so hard to do..I never recall the "Great Steve Perry" being able to pull that off...but Mr Awesome sure as fuck did it. Too bad he came down with a throat infection....I was so looking forward to him singing Trial By Fire acapella next year..I have no doubt, he could pull it off.

STEVE AUGERI IS THE BEST JOURNEY FRONTMAN EVER, HE BLOWS PERRY AND SOTO AWAY - HE THE BEST FRONTMAN THIS BAND HAS EVER HAD, HE IS THE TRUE JOURNEY FRONTMAN, HE HAS A POWERFULL VOICE, HE IS GRACIOUS AND HUMBLE. HE CARRIES THE CLASSICS WITH GRACE AND CONFIDENCE.

STEVE AUGERI BLOWS EVERYONE AWAY!. HIS VOCALS ARE TOP NOTCH AND HE'S AWESOME! HE'S MY FAVOURITE, AND IF HAVENT SEEN ARRIVAL 2001 DVD, THEN GET IT! IT BLOWS HOUSTON 81 DVD AWAY.

I've seen Arrival 2001 and Houston 81...................you're kidding right?

I've seen Arrival 2001 and William Hung on AI.........You're kidding right? :)

And rightfully so...

I haven't seen where anyone listed SAM COOKE. Good GAWD, people! I grew up on Sam and he's THE BEST EVER. Steve Perry would probably agree, too!

When I first heard Steve Perry I thought, "Here's a guy that sings with the character and soul of Sam Cooke." Several years later I found out that SP was a devout Sam Cooke fan. Go figure - I hear so much of Sam in SP's work it's scary. Also, Rod Stewart emulates Cooke as well.

I had a great exchange with JSS on Back Talk maybe a year ago regarding Sam Cooke. Turns out that JSS is also a Sam fan.

As always I recommend Sam's Night Beat. If you haven't heard it then you haven't heard singing!

More on Dio's age:

http://www.ronniejamesdio.com/forum/vie ... php?t=2433

Age Dispute

There is a long-standing dispute regarding Dio's age. His most likely birthdate is listed above as July 10, 1942. Dio himself says he was born in 1949, but most evidence suggests that he is older. He was in his first band in 1958, which means that if the 1949 date is correct, he would have been 9 years old. This seems unlikely, although Ronnie has said he started his first group around age 10. However, according to his high school, Ronnie graduated in 1960. It is said that several people who live in the town he grew up in also confirm this. His first band photo from ca. 1959or 1960 shows him being probably in his teens. British/Australian singer Graham Bonnet, who replaced Dio in the band Rainbow, has said that Ronnie is younger than him. Bonnet was born September 23, 1947. However, in a 2005 interview, Dio himself claimed that Ritchie Blackmore "isn't that much younger" than him and Ritchie was born in 1945. Public records list Ronnie as 63 years old under the name "Ronald Padavona" and as 56 years old under the name "Ronnie James Dio". Ritchie has said that Ronnie is younger than him though as well. Most of his fans agree that the 1942 date is the most likely based on the evidence, with 1949 being second most likely. Which makes his still-rocking career all the more impressive, as he has performed flawlessly in concert at age 63!

I'm very surprised that all of you Journey lovers have not mentioned an aussie by the name of Jimmy Barnes.

He released a particularly awesome album in the late 80s called Freight Train Heart.

Musicians who co-wrote and played on it: Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Randy Jackson, Steve Farris, Johnny Diesel. Its a blinding album and the vocals are unreal, the material absolutely top drawer from beginning to end. I've seen him do it 'live' upteen times in small and medium venues.

Guy used to be a truck driver and was in a band called Cold Chisel in the 70s/early 80's. Sometimes comes up for download on www.komodoisland.net, well worth tracking the CD down - should really have fronted Bad English I reckon, but then would have had to change the name of the band....

Other top vocalist who is virtually untouchable (even by Mr Perry) for consistency, range, and indeed was christened the 'Voice of Rock' by the KLF...Glenn Hughes.

Strungout,

Henry Lee Summer is still around here in Indiana doing local shows at smaller venues. He was out of the seen for quite a while but was doing shows last year. I haven't heard anything on shows this year though. Henry had a decent set of pipes for sure. You're right, the "With I Had A Girl" video was pretty gay wouldn't you say? I seen Henry a few times in the early 90's, he was as good live as in the studio. I need to catch a show soon to see how he sounds these days if he's still performing this year.

Cheers,

Aaron

Anyone a fan of Joe Lynn Turner, the ex-singer of Rainbow and Deep Purple? Rainbow fans nicknamed him "The Poof"...but I always thought he was one of the best AOR singers of the early 1980s.
