My brother owns a T-Shirt business so I needed a job before school ended. This was about Nov. of last year. He is 35 and is a big, big Journey fan himself. Everyday he would put on the GREATEST HITS CD, and although I knew the songs, I didn't really know Journey sang any of them. Gradually, It worked the way up that I started to LOVE the music and gave me a feel good attitude. Couple months into the works, he started saying about how he wanted me to go to my first concert in January. We found out the tour was comming to Cincinatti, and we are located in Pittsburgh. So we got a van of a about 15, maybe more of people to ride on up to the show and stay the night for the Jrny-Def Concert. It was amazing. I can't wait til the Pittsburgh show to see how well J.S.S has groomed, but my brother said he won't go unless Augeri is back. So I'm takin a bunch of friends (Who is starting to groom as fans) haha. Overall it was pretty kickass how I evolved over several months into the Journey era.

Here are some pics of the concert..

Tell me if they work?

Yeah, what NIG said.

If you're legit, that's wonderful and welcome aboard. However, I can go to a few threads right now, and point to one poster - ohsherrie - who is/was posting with a completely new nic, and attempts to give the impression that she is supportive of this newest lineup with JSS. She mouths all the words that would be expected from a Journey supporter. It's a game that some of them (Perrytroopers, Perry Onlies, you name it), enjoying playing because they then think they've outsmarted the rest of us, when in reality, all they're doing is wasting time and bandwidth.

They start out with general "good wishes" statements about the band, but usually throw in something about the history of the band with Perry, etc. After a while, it moves onto being more openly supportive of Steve Perry, while still maintaining a respectable public posting decorum where JSS and Augeri as well as the rest of the band is concerned. Eventually, it begins to look like they've become "saddened" by the fact that people seem to "dis" Perry and slowly come to his defense. Finally, they act as if they have no choice but to defend Steve Perry because he is being so villified here and elsewhere, that it just breaks their heart. It is during this phase that they also start making overtly negative comments about other members of the band and then things start heating up on the board here. Andrew, the moderator, then needs to step in, give warnings, lock threads and generally take a much more hands on approach.

When all is said and done, they feel wonderful about having created all the havoc. They then "leave," only to come back as someone else and start the fracas all over again, first playing the innocent, then gradually moving onto the "You leave me no choice, I have to defend Perry" banner. It's a game that they love to play and create and, in fact, it's the only one they know how to play. It's what they do and it's how they spend their time.

Even your post previous to mine here...I read it and I go "Uh...sure." I can't help it because there are WAY too many things in it that just slap me across my intelligence.

As far as the photos, no they don't work, because it looks like they're pointing to your hard drive...

Maybe I'm just getting a bit jaded, but I've seen it happen over and over and over again on BT, VH-1 and here, so please forgive me if you are legit and I'm skeptical. :D

It really doesn't make any difference to me. I don't care one way or another. I'm just skeptical. Maybe you're really 18 years-old, with a 35 year-old brother and maybe you listened to Journey, but had absolutely no clue you were listening to Journey. Maybe your brother is a HUGE Journey fan who really wants Augeri back, but listened to Greatest Hits all the time (instead of GENERATIONS, RED 13 or ARRIVAL) and maybe even though you don't know who Journey was/is, you understood that Steve Perry left a huge, indellible legacy on the group.

Maybe, maybe, maybe. Please don't get me wrong. I lose no sleep over any of this stuff. Like I say, things just jump out at me and since the 'Net comes with a large measure of anonymity, questions should be expected. If the history of this board and Journey is any indication, it won't stop either.

Fred...please...you are starting to worry me now. Aren't you being a little obsessive and paranoid about the Loons?

I'm not denying that some Perry fans are dishonest, manipulative and driven by an 'agenda'. But we only have to log on to BT (and this forum and the Yahoo groups) to see that this is true of some Augeri supporters too.

Why do you care so much about what the "PerryOnlies" are up to? What it is about Perry fans that freaks you out? And why don't the fanatics on the 'other side' bother you?

I don't get it...because many of your posts suggest that - in your heart-of-hearts - you are a major Perry fan too.

Parnoia is usually not based in reality. And please don't worry about me, as I've said over and over again, I lose no sleep over any of this. I simply point it out. They do not "freak me out," or anything else. I do not obsess about them. I KNOW for a fact that ohsherrie is/was posting as someone else. If I said who, it would be denied. That's on her.

I'm not denying that some Perry fans are dishonest, manipulative and driven by an 'agenda'. But we only have to log on to BT (and this forum and the Yahoo groups) to see that this is true of some Augeri supporters too.

Because the Augeri heads have not taken the time to direct their hostility at me.

Why do you care so much about what the "PerryOnlies" are up to? What it is about Perry fans that freaks you out? And why don't the fanatics on the 'other side' bother you?

Already answered all of these...

I don't get it...because many of your posts suggest that - in your heart-of-hearts - you are a major Perry fan too.

What does being a major Perry fan have to do with anything? I AM a major Perry fan. I love his voice. I love is singing. I love the soul and emotion he puts into his song. I have NOTHING against Perry. It's the Perry Morons that have taken it upon themselves to decide who is really a fan of whom. If you do not speak the words the way THEY want them spoken, or if you deign to say one unkind thing about Perry (regardless of whether or not it might be true), then they come out with an all-out attack.

I cannot help what I see, Matthew, but for the last time, please understand that I do NOT obsess about any of it. I simply notice it and call it what I think it is. That's it.

In short, I don't like to be "played" and the Perry Onlies spend an inordinate amount of time trying to "play" people. If the Augeri heads are just as culpable, great, but they haven't done that to me.

Welcome to the boards!

I’m also 19. There are a lot of teens between the ages of say 16-19+ that do know who Journey is. Most of them are only casual fans though that won’t venture too far past the Greatest Hits but I’m working on a number of them. A lot of the teens that know them would love to attend the concerts and buy the shirts they just lack an important detail: money! I wore my Journey shirts these first few days of college and engaged in a number of conversations with people about Journey. One guy asked me if Steve Perry was still with them! Out of all the people I talked to not one of them mentioned tapegate (and I didn’t bring it up), they also didn’t mention Augeri or JSS. These casual fans will turn into more if Journey could make waves again and I hope they do. Most teens know them from the good things their parents have said (like mine) and others know them through shows that have played a Journey song. Laguna Beach for example attracted a lot of people my age when they played “Lights” and “Don’t Stop Believing.” They need to do more of that kind of stuff. Also anyone that has gone to the shows this year can tell you there are a number of younger people there!

Dude, pay them no mind. A lot of us are glad you new generation are here... it's the only thing that will keep the band alive!

Best thing to do is just post intelligent stuff every now and then... get some posts under your belt, and people will know you're cool.

This is definitely the best board to be on. I've been here for like 4 years (posting under a different name), and there's a lot of stuff that happens. Some of the posters go crazy, and they start cussing, yelling, hounding each other. I guess it's this band, it strikes a lot of emotional chords in folks! The singer changes have been one aspect... the SP vs. SA issues... the "tapegate" situation... all of it.

What happened with the Augeri is that people are alleging that he was using recorded vocal tracks live for like the last year or so... instead of singing live. They say his voice is toast... which it's gotta be, after all the touring this band does. One of the fans here posted some examples of how recent shows sounded JUST LIKE the Journey 2001 DVD (meaning that Augeri was using tracks off that DVD live in concerts across America), and the press got wind of it, and next thing you know, he's out of the band!

All I can say is, dude, why isn't QUEEN on your top 15 list? That's my favorite band, and if you love the BEATLES that much, I guarantee you that you will love QUEEN!!!!

Teens loving Classic Rock are rare. But your example of the band using shows to become known better is a good idea. I think the band should license their songs to car manufacturers... then EVERYBODY will know them. If it can work for MOBY, it can work for this band, who has much better music.

I know what you're saying about not having money, but that part I'm not buying. If kids want something, they will find a way to get it. Most kids (like 90% of them) have a lot of stuff that their parents buy for them. They ask for and GET expensive stuff like SONY PLAYSTATIONS, XBOXES, $50-60 VIDEO GAMES, EXPENSIVE CLOTHING, IPODS, and the like. They don't ask for for money to go see Journey, or to buy Journey CDs.

I like the Queen songs that I hear on the radio I just haven’t gotten into them yet. I became a Classic Rock fan a few years ago and when I get into a band I don’t grab their greatest hits and leave it at that. I dig thorough everything I can get my hands on and take about 5 or 6 songs from every non-compilation album they have released. It takes some time that mostly goes to college work but I do plan to dig through all the tracks Queen has released.

I am around teens all the time, because I am one, it is NOT rare at all. The most loved Classic Rock acts by teens these days are Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Hendrix. But I hear my brother and all his friends (who are two years yonger) listeing to Boston, Styx, Journey, Foreigner, The Eagles, REO Speedwagon, Van Halen, Aerosmith (older), Skynyrd, Chicago, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, Eddie Money, Rush, Kansas, Bad Co, Frampton, The Stones, and so on. I’ve attended a number of parties that have nothing but Classic Rock playing. In college and high school there are so many kids with vintage classic rock t-shirts. At all the Classic Rock shows I go to there is a good perecentage of teens. I’m sure you get my point by now.

I can see your point there but many of the teens that I hang around with only get that stuff for birthdays or Christmas. I’m part of the middle class so once you get a job the cash flow from your parents comes to a halt, as it should. I had about five friends I wanted to take with me to the Journey show but with college books, rent, tuition, gas, and everything else they couldn’t afford it. Like I said though if Journey or any other classic rock band starts making waves they will have that in the back of there mind when they are spending. Almost all of them went to the Tom Petty show though because he is still active in the charts and still making waves.

If it ain't fun, why do it?

You mean "it ain't fun to get caught."

If I wanted to be here it would be as OHSHERRIE, that's WHO I AM whether you like it or not.

I don't CARE one way or another, toodles. It has absolutely nothing to do with "like or not." It makes no difference to me. I simply call 'em as I see 'em.

Get the fuck over it Fred.

YOU get over it. Your "team" started it way back BEFORE the VH-1 board and it never stopped. As far as you're concerned, it never will either.

The only reason I'm responding now is because there are people on this board that I like and care about and I don't want them to think I've been posting dishonestly.

Sure, and your post here is going to convince anyone that all of a sudden you're honest? Um...think again.

I don't really give a tinker's damn what you think.

Bullshit. You wouldn't have responded if that was truly the case.

Get the PM? That's my last word on the subject.

PM? Don't waste your time sending me anything else...under any name.

Now go get a fuckin' life.

Come up with a new "zinger," will you? The "get a life" phrase is so overused and tiresome, it's pitiful. I have a wonderful life. It's morons like yourself who spend too much time away from this board plotting ways to destroy it, and generally wreaking havoc on it. It's been PROVEN that this is what you and others like you have done in the past, but now all of a sudden, everyone is supposed to believe that you're altruistic because you've turned over a new leaf? That'll never happen.

It's the idiot who thinks - with all the games the Perrytoons have been playing for years - that all of a sudden, they've thrown in the towel and now want to play nice. You led the charge, ohsherrie, but now you've gone straight? Don't think so... :D

Of course not, because "fun" to you is calling music performers, and MR posters, and certain Perry websites, and message board administrators you don't care for, (because they don't share your views to the letter) all sorts of nasty names behind the scenes. And if you can't get away with it, because somebody exposed it, where's the fun? If you have somebody tracking your words, and disputing them, where's the fun?

You want a blank carpet ride on this message board, and you won't get it, because some posters here already know what you and your loon gal pals are capable of.

ohsherrie wrote: The only reason I'm responding now is because there are people on this board that I like and care about and I don't want them to think I've been posting dishonestly.

I'm just me and have no desire to be anyone else.

Oh, but you have been posting dishonestly. Fred has you and your Loons pegged.

When are you going to face the facts? Everybody here who needs to know who you and your Loons are, and all the folly that you've pulled, already knows the truth. Denying it or going incognito doesn't help your pitiful cause.

Cry me a river. Image

Wow do you talk like that in front of your "son?" You played so "angelic" on your private board, except for when you and your gal pals were fantasizing about Perry. You want to talk about disgusting? Image I see the true spirit of Ohsherrie is rising to the forefront.

Thanks, you had some insightful answers. I think it's cool that you dig through everything. I love doing research like that, and it has led to some satisfying discoveries for me. I also follow producers as much as bands, and that is something cool to do. If you like a producer's style, then you know his other work may also appeal to you. Like the work of Mutt Lange (Def Leppard, AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Foreigner (4), The Cars (Heartbeat City)), or David Foster (Chicago, Peter Cetera), or even Roy Thomas Baker (who produced both Queen and Journey).

Lately, believe it or not, I've been listening to a CD of some music I hadn't heard for like 18 years... AUTOGRAPH, Sign In Please. Great stuff (to me)!

And I hear you about your college costs... been there... the books are so damned expensive. Now, that would be a lucrative job... produce books for colleges. You know the money's there, and you'll sell out of your print-runs!

Just make sure your friends ask for classic rock cds at Christmastime!

Hey Yak. How the heck are ya? :)

Cracks you up, doesn't it - the expletives, the blasting, the pompous spouting - all of it?

I particularly like this statement she made: "there are people on this board that I like and care about and I don't want them to think I've been posting dishonestly."

Hey, she could have PM'd them like she did me....but NOOOOOO! :D

Ohsherrie and her Perrytoons are easy to spot. It's like running a flag up the flagpole.

Hey Fred, I'm doing well. I actually have a life, like some others here, so I almost missed her rhetoric.

I can't fathom who in particular "she" might be worried about finding out about her dishonesty. The group as a whole is disingenuous as anything. Likely that those she's worried about, already know all about her and are having some fun of their own.

Yeah, they're real easy to spot. BS is their middle name.

Hasn't she figured out yet that the O P and D Squad is on to her?

Wait, I can answer that for her! She'll go... "What?! What are you talking about?! I have no idea what you're talking about!! If I have something to say, it wouldn't be with cryptic acronyms. I'll just say it!" or some such nonsense. :D

Have a great holiday weekend, Yak.

You really CAN'T, frankly. You can only go by what people say and how they post and sometimes (as it's been clearly shown) they don't post truthfully. Unless you actually meet the people who post here (or elsewhere), you honestly don't know who you're dealing with...Image

I "approve" of Steve Augeri, he fronted one of the best shows I've seen in 2003, as did Perry in 1983.

I also support JSS 100%.

All three rock and are worthy.

You saw a taped mannequin..You did NOT see a live singer. Give that loser the boot he deserves. FUCK Augeri.[/quote]

For fucks sake give the guy some credit? You ever thought about calling Oliver Stone see if he wants to make a film about it? What? You say even he wouldn't be interested...? No way!
