I remember when i lived in west palm beach they had some festival for a week each day different bands would play and Richard marx drummer hadnt shown up yet due to some problem with his flight and they actually asked if anyone in the audience new how to play from what i remember they got someone out of the audience and the guy did pretty good

okay im going to play a little devils advocate--------if you go on without your drummer because hes sick for the day what happens if JSS gets sick do you get the vocal tech to take over

Hey, the exact same thing happened when I went to U2 concert back in 1986 or '87, Bono asked this enormous crowd if anyone could fill in on guitar, no lie a 17 year old kid got up there and was unbelievable, Bono kept praising him the entire time and I've always wondered what became of him? JSS won't get sick, he's a mountain of a man-big and strong and muscular and........

That would just get too confusing if someone had to fill in for JSS, considering JSS is already filling in for SA.

Here's something I always wondered. When SA replaced SP, what did they say?

Was it supposedly temporary?

I mean did they say SP's out and been replaced or did they say SA was a temporary replacement until SP's hip got better?

Just wondering.

Steve A was not a temp... the SP thing was like a bad divorce, or a corp firing whatever you want to call it... If I remember correctly from my Journey history---- Jon had to call Steve P to inform him he was no longer in the band.... someone else can fill in the rest....

I received my Steve Perry book the other day.

Ive skimmed it a little. I believe it is on page 98 where Steve says he thought that he was just a temporary singer for the band Journey. Never 'really felt like one of the gang', I believe is how he put it.

So Jonathan making that call wasnt really a big deal.

Perry told you that, did he?

As for the "never feeling part of the band"...well, he said that afteer Jonathan Cain 'did the Judas'...so if anything that remark shows that he was pretty hurt when the interview took place.

No, the Perry and Augeri situations are very different in that way... they shut down and gave Perry a couple of years to figure out his hip thing, and THEN they hired Augeri with Perry officially out. Augeri on the other hand is stuck in limbo while the band plugs on, which I really hope does NOT drag on for 2 years...

Matthew wrote:The darkest day in Journey's history...

Well, perhaps if he hadn't been a diva and yanked their chain along for so long, they wouldn't have had to get tired of his bullshit and fire him. I wonder if when Jon had called Perry, and Perry had said, "No, wait, I DO want to be in the band..." they would still be together today. Instead, he got sulky (if Herbie and BTM are to be believed) with, "there's no going back, you cracked the stone" and they never spoke again. In a way I can see why they no longer want to wait for singers to recover.

If he hadn't been such a diva and yanked their chain for so long the band would never have been successful in the first place.

Better we cancel the show right? Then it would have been 16,000 pissed off people & 1 less smart ass comment!

It's more than a smartass comment. It's more evidence as to why I say the fans are choking JOURNEY. I could point out countless others.

In JOURNEY Herbie Herbert wanted to create a band like the Grateful Dead with a loyal fan base. Ever since Perry left the fan base has been divided. And now with you on board it's split even more. There'e very little loyalty to JOURNEY anymore. People are fans of JOURNEY personnel and they're entirely ungrateful.

No matter the forum it's one smart ass comment after another. One destructive criticism after another.

Forget about it! Keep on runnin', Jeff!

Perry is the Voice of Rock
Augeri did an swesome job and like the Augeri line up best
JSS is on board and doing great. So how does that divide it even more?
If Jss had replaced Perry yea, I could see, if anyone replace the Voice of Rock, they would have caught Hell, which Augeri did. So it is easier on Jss, being the 2nd singer after Perry.-ERIC

This is Deen's second time out this tour.
Hope these guys are being on the up and up, unlike some othe band member alibis.

First thing that popped to my mind, was how Deen and Augeri were buds, and from what I remember was Augeri supporting him in rehab, but I don't think it is anything other than what has been said-ERIC

Great point. I thought the same myself. In the past, Deen has had problems with addiction. As far as I remember,he left SS for unknown reasons. And as always, there were some rumors about that. I, for one, hope he DID have bad fish. Unlike others though, I hope Deen is doing well because he is an awesome person, not because I'd feel cheated if he weren't at the show. Having met him, and I've said this before, he's the coolest "famous person" I've ever met. Regardless of the problem, get well VERY soon.

Me too on all counts except ACLS instructor-but what good would that really do me on a tour bus anyway right???(as much good as my NRP, and Fetal Heart Monitoring Instructor)

Sorry for about the way the post sounded at first ......I was tired and really just wanted to let you all know that Deen was not there......I for one really thought the show was good and Jeff sang great. My Brother is a bigger Journey fan than me and was skeptical at first of the singer change as he is a huge Augeri fan and he was the one who noticed right off the bat that Deen wasn't drumming (we had seats way in the back) and was not happy. I think the problem is everyone has their opinion on what singer they like the best and that's what makes debating the subject fun. Heck if we only had one singer to choose from that would limit what we could talk about. I was hoping that the band would have Jon sing Feelin That Way/Anytime to give Jeff a rest, however Jeff sang everything and did it well. I have always said the best singer Mr. Malmsteen ever had was Jeff and he proved it again last night.

You are right, Eric, but I would re-phrase that to say "Deen and Augeri ARE buds" not past tense. Their friendship remains intact and strong.
