They played "Open Arms" and then showed Steve on the jumbo tron. He looks great for a man of 57....hell he doesn't even look 57. I think it's the water. :D I think Steve looks 100% better than when he met those girls at the star this year. :)

What about not being able to eat certain things for singing? Can someone who sings elaborate? Thanks.

Good point!! Could someone with a singing background shed some light on a "singer's diet." What are the advantages of losing weight, watching your diet, exercising, and even what foods you would eat or avoid? I always wondered why a lot of the world's greatest opera voices are fatter than shit. Never really made sense to me. Or are there some advantages to being fat? Some of those Italian singers must've really been shoveling down the pasta!! Singing experts please chime in.

I think that a lot of the overall change is the haircut and tee. Some weight loss but his hair in the pictures with the PerryPack at the star definitely needed to be styled.

It doesn't take an expert to know that if the average singer eats healthy foods and exercises, then they WILL sing better. In fact, if the average PERSON eats healthy foods and exercises, their entire quality of life will be of a better.

As for the opera people, not all of them are fat. Certainly some are, but most are not. Part of that "fat" look comes from the fact that they use their lungs to belt out stuff that most of us could never do and their lung capacity has increased. In order for their lung capacity to increase, the chest obviously must increase in size as well. I've seen and heard many medium built or even thin opera people who absolutely amaze. Pavarotti was suffering from ill health not long ago, due to age and his weight.

I noted with interest when we went to see Richard Elliot...his chest was large and he was not fat. His lungs were simply used to blow the hell out of his saxophone, which not only increased the strenght of his lungs, but also his lung capacity, which made for a larger chest cavity.

Yeah, when I look at the photos, I see some weight loss, but nothing drastic. As I said before, it's good to see anyone taking care of themselves. Regarding his hair, I think he should grow it long like he had it during FTLOSM. That really looked good on him.

True Fred, although he isn't fat, Perry is kind of barrel-chested too. No wonder he can belt out those tunes, probably got a great set of lungs in there. In some concert footage you can see him puffing out his chest (of course the Perry haters will say that is him being cocky  ) but probably just trying to take in more air. :)

Yeah, you cannot sing for as long as Perry did on stage with the type of music that he sang to, using the energy he consistently used and NOT develop a greater lung capacity. It's impossible...and there is only one way for your chest to go when your lungs are demanding more room - out.

dairy coats the cords and can make a sort of phlegm
Alcohol is bad as it dries the cords
Smole is worse and it dries the cords and coats and makes them brittle

those are the worst things for a singer

I have to disagree. The weight loss came too fast for this just to be a guy "enjoying life." Something's up....I alluded to this a LONG time ago. And as I've been saying for months, expect an announcement late this /early next year. December 06 to March 07 is MY prediction.
