What has gotten into Neal??

Postby Chevypv » Mon Oct 02, 2006 10:19 pm

All you other guitar players out there (and those of you that dont if you want) what the hell has gotten into Neal??

Has he been hanging out with Steve Vai or something? Those Atlantic City city boots are showing me a harder, more Shred happy Neal than i have ever heard before. The guy is doing all the wammy bar dives and squeals at random times, and he didn't play any solos the way they originally were like. he started to, but started shredding very soon after in each solo, Its like he's got a new lease on life, I love it....so the question is,

Do we get a Neal Schon Solo album that will show the Shred world what he's all about, or is the new Journey sound going to show the Shred world what he's all about...or is this just a phase...

If you want the original guitar solos, I think they have a whole bunch of albums you can buy.

Neal is the s**t! Soto has kicked new energy into the band and it's fired Neal up. I hope it doesn't make him too shred happy, though. His tasteful, melodic soloing is what sets him apart from the pack.

Yes - I agree. When I saw Schon in concert he was a bit frantic and over-complex at times - and I slightly missed the simple approach which made him so distinctive. A minor quibble though...he was still incredible to watch.

No, he's been altering the solos to be more shred-friendly since the last few years.

Yeah, ive seen the guys every year for the past three (i know thats not real impressive, but im a poor 21 year old who just go the money for concerts) and i have noticed that he was getting progressively harder and more shred like, but with JSS this year its a huge leap...Ive never heard Neal play so fast...

I'm loving it. I've always told my buddies that Journey's guitarist could hang with the best shredders and they've laughed at me. I really can't wait until a new, harder Journey album or a Neal solo shred album!

Night after night they played to vocal tapes (ref Deano). That had to weigh heavy on ones conscience & mood and mainly the fear factor of being exposed. I believe that NOW you see a relieved guitarist, only feeling the pressure of the additonal weight in his wallet from Soto joining and the s... luck to land a huge draw like Def Lepard. He has 7 lives left by my count ,but probably not what he really wants at this stage of his career.

I would say it was too much of a guy not named Steve believing they were actually talented enough to sing lead on ANY Journey track!
