Ey Matthew your constant ramming down our throats made me listen to ROR several times the last few days. & you know what. I'm thinking I love this album more than I knew I did. I always loved Suzanne & Happy To Give. There was always something very special about WCTNGOF specially w/it being the last we heard from Journey for so long. & well IBAWY u just gotta like cos it's a classic. Other than that I wanted to throw the rest of the album away. So after much more listens well I still hate BGTY & always did (tapegate was hard for me listening to that song over and over groan even worse with SA "singing" it than Perry.). GCHI bores me to tears still. Such a useless song IMHO. But I'm digging TEOAW & ROR more than I ever did. Will I start loving PT & ICHBY...hmm I dunno. But u had an influence baby. Keep it up. :-)

 Well, I'm delighted to hear that.

I love ROR, it's a bit more adult oriented, but it's only natural w/ the band aging (aren't we all) I liked an old quote from Tom Petty about how his lyrics have changed, he said, "well it's kind of rediculous to be 50 years old and still singing about taking your girl to the prom"

Yes - that's a good point, RedWingFan. The mood of ROR was influenced by divorce, bereavement and disillusionment, wasn't it? All the things that many people in their late 30s have to deal with. There wasn't the optimism ("Don't Stop Believin'") or the hedonism ("Anyway You Want it") which the earlier albums had.

Having said that...there was always a sense that Perry was having no luck with the ladies and was in "pain, pain, pain" about some girl or other. But even that seemed more like youthful frustration than the weary resignation of many of the ROR songs.

And all his problems would be solved if he just met me, you know!

I'm in the (seemingly) minority that has always liked most all of ROR, very few exception that I don't find listenable even today.

"Be Good To Yourself" is possible the best song on the CD and a great motivator when working out. Right up there with thinking about as someone yesterday mentioned, Louden Swayne(sp?) running across the bridge early morning in the movie "Vision Quest" and having "Only the Young" playing constantly.

"Happy To Give" isn't so bad either, a nice easy listening song. Though when I hear it I think of that awful surfing movie about the kid from Arizona who goes on to get the hottie and the reputation as a good surfer... BLECH.

There's lot's to praise on almost every CD by Journey, ROR is no different.
