It was chapter 1 of "The Great Gatsby". Andy Kaufman once read it at one of his concerts. The crowd thought it was a joke until he wouldn't stop and completely pissed everyone off. Shear brilliance.

Anyway the long windedness and utter trite of it reminded me of someone who thought he was so much above everyone else.

I'd be flattered if someone compared me to F.Scott Fitzgerald...he's only one the greatest novelists of the twentieth century...

Hey AR, I got the point of your "verbose" post right away! Funny, but sad. Because if some people would have actually read Fred's posts they would understand him better...

It wouldn't have made any difference Dave. Very few here give a damn. A few of the posters PM'ed me that they post the way they do just to fit in and are afraid to post as they feel. They like the free downloads and enjoy living vicariously for a while before returning to their normal lives.

Isn't that sad? Why should anybody be afraid to be themselves here? But then Deano was not himself here either...

Well I'm not afraid to speak my mind here. I got what Fred was saying, and he made ALOT of valid points here. Fred and I "don't" always agree on everything , but I DO agree with him.

People CAN get their point across when having a debate or argument WITHOUT having to resort to name calling and such. It WON'T take away from the board, I believe it would ADD much more of a mature conversation with others.

Thanks Dave. I'm working on trying not to over explain myself so much. I like the way you post - to the point and steady. I'm shooting for that...in my own style of course. :D

Please stay. You will, right? Your posts are succinct and intelligent too.

Plus, I really like your avatar! That was a great movie, but maybe I just like it for the FX and atmosphere. :D

AFI, I understand your eye roll emotion but what Fred said is true. Your posts are succinct and intelligent and I didn't mean for you to try on that shoe, lol.

Of course I will, I don't mind being the voice of dissent sometimes. If there wasn't one this place would just become a lovefest.

Rosario Dawson was very hot in that movie. Most of the women were, actually, but I didn't want to put Jessica Alba up when she's already been here...

The eyeroll was not directed at you, it was at those who have told me to GTFO...

I liked Dawon's "attitude" in the film. Good choice!

Hey, I can relate to that. If you don't subscribe to the majority opinion, the majority tells you to go. Now, which forum are we talking about? I think there are two answers to that question...and there have been points when I've been told to leave on BOTH. Too funny.

That IS kind of funny and yet these same people will scream "FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!" if you suggest that they post differently. Here's an "eye roll" for that one:
