... you would have to get a haircut and grow out a 'stache :D
j/k...
If this does happen, though, I hope they cast someone worthy of this character.

"PR-inside.com reports that Freddie Mercury's life story is being turned into a Hollywood film.

The legendary QUEEN frontman — famous for such hits as "We Are The Champions" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" — tragically died of AIDS in 1991 and now his former bandmate Brian May has revealed a biopic about his troubled life is on the way.

The guitarist told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "There is a film in the pipeline and we're all involved in it. I'm not allowed to say much about it and casting isn't finalised but we've had some incredible offers to play Freddie. Really incredible."
(Jeff, you got May's number???)

May has also lifted the lid on his next project, a new album with QUEEN drummer Roger Taylor. It will be the first QUEEN record of new material since Mercury's untimely death.

May said "It's going really well. Is there a track which will be a tribute to Freddie? Well, we're just writing what we want at the moment but it's all a tribute to Freddie. I mean, without him, we wouldn't be here."

The rock band's back catalogue is already the inspiration for long-running West End musical "We Will Rock You" and recently a TV documentary, "Freddie Mercury: A Kind Of Magic", was aired to commemorate what would have been the singer's 60th birthday. "

Anyone seen recent Animation films like Polar Express or Monster House???
Who needs an actor to 'look' like Frddie or anyone else for that matter.
In those 2 films, they used that wild "Dot" technology on real actors in a sound stage and then 'painted in' everything else with CG;It's pretty amazing stuff!
It could be a rocking, adult Animation like Heavy Metal...

I agree. That's what they SHOULD do. As good a singer as JSS is, he's not an actor. It's easier to get a good actor whose voice can be looped, as opposed to getting a singer who has never acted in a film before.

Jeff's probably too tall for the part anyway and doesn't look enough like Freddie...Not to mention that he exudes LOTS more masculinity than gay ol' Freddie did (and I'm a huge Queen fan).

No need, Jackson browne was an alky, while Darryl Hannah was with him, he beat her up several times while drunk, according to her.

I heard the terrible news today on the radio (probably old) that Paul Rogers and Brian May are writing for the next Queen record. WTF? He SO does not deserve that job.

Personally, I thought Rodgers did a great job with Queen, and I look forward to more. 8)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's not a capable singer. He's great for his stuff, but Rogers and Mercury are/were night and day singers.

This news was in the pipeline for a while, and I can't for the life of me remember who they had lined up to play Freddie, but it was a somewhat well-known actor. Maybe the guy who was in Phantom or something. Somebody like Hugh Jackman or something. I don't remember exactly who, but it was one of those people you hear about and say "no way," and then you think about it and realize it just might work.

Polar Express is pretty awesome.

Did yo usee that FM look-alike on that recent competition show. I can't remember the name - something about imitations...

Anyway, this guy looked a lot like him and sounded good, too.

I don't know about "In The Life" movies. They always come off as hack.

Let JSS do it! It's really about capturing the SPIRIT of the songs, anyway. I suspect that he'd sound enough "like" FM and there's nothing that some trick cosmetics couldn't do to get the FM mouth!

Well, since I'm at work and bored, I decided to just jog my pea-brain on actors that 'kinda' look like or
'could' look like Freddie with the right touches and I came up with one...

Peter Facinelli, the cocky jock from "Can't Hardly Wait" and Husband to Jenny Garth of 90210 fame...

What y'all think?

No way! Not that JSS couldn't handle it vocally...no problem there...but like conversationpc said, Jeff is WAY more masculine than Freddie and waaaayyyy more sexy. But I could see his vocals being used.
