Looking back over reviews

Postby jrnysc » Wed Nov 15, 2006 2:56 am

Of this year's shows with Jeff at lead, it is obvious people are LOVING this band with him at lead singer. Many of these are casual fans, not necessarily on message boards, and he is leaving his mark. The more you look around the more obvious it is becoming he is the right guy for this job. The band is blazing live now, and the reviews, even in the media, are getting better and better. I would LOVE to hear some of the stuff they have been working on. Believe In Me is an excellent tune IMO.

It's exciting. I hope the band takes this new energy and runs with it!

Kick, kick, kicking myself for not going to see them in concert this tour.

I'm planning on it! Although it sounds as if I may have to wait a year or more. But that's okay, if it gives the band time to create some new music and come back hitting us hard.

Have you read any of the reviews for the previous tours, POST the Perry era? They are ALL good reviews.

I have read some Augeri era reviews and they're not all good, are they? My personal feelings about the 1998-2006 era are lukewarm.

With the addition of JSS and a feeling of renewed energy in the band I'm hoping that the music will have a little more testosterone. Arrival and Generations are both a little on the mellow side for me. (So was ROR as a matter of fact.)

Maybe I just feel that the band is going to rock a little harder and if they do that and stay within the Journey sound, thats a good thing to me.

And I have read probably the same # of lukewarm reviews about the JSS fronted Journey. Not to defend either however I've seen Journey each year they have come to IL and they rocked each time, including this summer with JSS. Simply the best live band I've ever seen/heard. And, Augeri's vocals were not perfect each performance either. Jss wasn't perfect as well.

Yes I've read lukewarm reviews about a JSS fronted Journey as well. And I do get your point about the reviews, that they are not neccessarily a great indicator of things to come for the band.

I'm just personally hopeful that the music will rock a little harder with the addition of JSS.

I'll guess we'll all have to wait and see/hear.

I think it's odd how people can hear different things at different shows. I was at the Charlotte show in July and was not too impressed, but there were rave reviews of that show. Then went to the Columbia show many months later and was blown away. It makes the Charlotte reviews that were glowing kind of hollow in my eyes, just personally observing so much of an improvement of the band as a unit.

Hey there Jeremey. I agree. I was at both shows as well. Charlotte was so-so at best. However, Columbia was the best concert bar none I have ever attended. Ever!! :)

My observation on this point is the sheer number of media outlets that are now showing an interest in the band. They all want to be there and review the show.

The double-up with DL was (in hindsight) genius and the energy levels displayed by Journey thru this tour has put them ahead of DL in the minds of many important people, including promoters and even the band's own mgmt.
