I just sang "Hooked on A Feeling" by BJ Thomas.

Glad it wasn't recorded. Especially on video since I'm naked.

I'm with ya there Granny!!! I can find anyone's cervix (provided they have one), can tell you the position of nearly any near term fetus by feeling, can read and interpret any fetal heart monitor tracing and can start an IV on anyone with my eyes closed, but artistic talent??? Forget about it!!! But it takes all of us to make the world go around!

Thanks Shania! ....No ... haven't done an exhibition of just my own. Have had a piece in one, here and there when I was younger, and I've done some mural work on walls in some businesses, homes and a school library, so that is on exhibit, I guess. haha!! Spent many years raising my kids. Had them young.... in my 40's now.....their grown and in college so I'm getting back into it and build up a collection of work and see where it goes from there. :)

Ed, sorry I haven't posted a review yet....but the cd is super! its upbeat and reminds me in places of the Buckinghams and in other spots=INXS.
You have a lot of talent and that is cool you made the whole thing yourself. This is a great spin to have in the background of a party, very positive!!! 8)

Just listened to some of your songs on myspace...very catchy. I like "Second" quite a bit. Your "Miss Polly" reminds me of Eels - humorous. Congrats on your new CD.

So many talented people here...TVL - wow, wonderful artist Jeremey (painter & singer!)...I studied art in college, but I just appreciate. This is the first time I saw the Talent thread - I'll have to check out the rest. I just write depressing poetry & nobody wants to read that sh*t unless there's music to it. LOL!

Hello MR friends, Happy New Year to you all, and I hope you all had a great time over the holidays.

Here's another little effort from me.
The lady who did the backing vocals for me was a tad 'off' but hopefully it's okay.

I thought you might like the song, Shania. :D Thankyou for the lovely compliment!

A lot of stuff I did ages ago is on minidisc/cassette and I don't have the kit to transfer those old recordings onto another format yet. And I haven't done any new recording for ages - it gets expensive when you pay a studio to do the recording and mixing. Everything is expensive here in the UK.
And singing covers, as I do for my living [with Andy, my partner] the songs we perform in the Act aren't necessarily the stuff we want to record. We love jazz, melodic rock, and blues but we are doing a sort of 80's show at the moment - Eurythmics, M People, Roxy Music and a lot of pop stuff because that's what our audiences want these days. We can't make a living on our circuit unless we do this stuff - but it's still fun and it's still music. So I'm not complaining.

I'm gonna get myself a portable 8 track recorder very soon though - tired of paying for studio time when I can do it myself.
Just a bit low on funds right now. Tax bills are due in January in the UK, so we have to pay our taxes before any treats can be bought! Watch this space though I will do some new stuff when finances permit.

But here's a couple for anyone who's interested, one is Tracey Chapman's "Baby Can I Hold You" and the other is an old jazz song, "Love Letters."
I do have "Open Arms" for anyone who didn'thear it last time. But I know a lot of people on M.R. don't like that song. I'll upload it just in case anyone would like to hear it. :D

That's a real treat,Susie,thank you! :D
Great voice and such a soulful style you have!

While listening to "Love Letters" I was thinking that you should record a Christmas album!I think your voice would sound wonderful on some of the classic Christmas songs.
Maybe after the taxes season will be over, you could think about some studio time.

Oh,and thanks for re-posting "Open Arms" - I didn't save it the first time.I really like it. 8)

Bless you, darling. At least you like Open Arms! Many others appear to really dislike that song - even with Steve P singing it!
My favourite Christmas classic is Ella Fitzgerald's version of "The Christmas Song" it's such a beautiful arrangement. I would certainly like to record that someday. [her version is here if you'd like to hear it, I know it's not melodic rock, and I know Christmas is over, but it is beautiful music......... http://www.mailbigfile.com/c33e51f2ea76 ... tFiles.php ]

I almost have enough saved for the 8 track desk, and the one I have my eye on has a CD burner in it, so once recording is done, I can easily upload stuff. Need to go back and learn lyrics for songs I haven't sung for ages, though!

Susie, you have a beautiful, soothing voice! I have that Tracy Chapman CD ('Fast Car' is one of my fave songs) and you did her song so nicely - I really like it. :)

Hope the other MR talents files aren't expired yet - I have to go get on another computer to hear the yousendit things.

I like 'Fast Car' too. She has a very distinctive voice, doesn't she?

I couldn't get the yousendit files, they have now expired.
Typical of me, 'cos I don't come on here regularly, I miss out on these things. :(

I must check in more often so I don't miss any more.

Promoting the family

Postby Blueskies » Wed Jan 10, 2007 2:45 pm

Since I started this thread I think I should finally do a little promoting of some members of my families work. Here is a link to my cousin Dave Robinson's CD..Sketchs......Here is a little bio..:::..He is a classical guitarist who plays everything from classical to the Beatles. He has performed with Stevie Nicks, The Four Tops, Sam Moore. Joni Sledge, The Phoenix Symphony, and many more. He is a National Endowment for the Arts grant recipient and is in demand as a studio musician, having recorded with the Four Tops, and the soundtrack for the TV show "Evening Shade".

You can click and find more on Dave and listen to some sample tracks at this link:

http://www.multimedialibrary.com/david/listen.asp
2 tracks are his own original written work

Image

And now some promotion for my other cousin...Daves sister....Diana Robinson......She is a prolific songwriter, singer and musician.....talk about prolific!...she released 5 CD's in 2006!!....She is also the CEO of A New York advertising firm in Manhatten.... a photographer...and is currently writing 2 books......one on her many kayaking trip experiences.

Here is a link to one of her sites....click on the albums cover twice and it will lead you to sound samples....also click around her site and check out some of her awesome photography.

http://www.multimedialibrary.com/diana_ ... /index.asp

Her CD's are available at several locations...including iTunes and Amazon....also scroll down for samples of some of her older material she has written....here is the cover of just one of her CD's . I am very proud of the accomplishments of my family members. I have another cousin whos daughter has a terrific voice...she tried out for this seasons American Idol and I can say that she made it thru the first round...but they cant tell me anymore then that due to non- discloser agreements.....so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her and wish her success...hope she goes all the way!
