I sure would like to see all that booty shaking that was going on on stage again...Jeff, Gary, Howie and Marco during his gig all had their backs to us & wiggled! As close as I was I still couldn't read the writing on Jeff's pants! And, I must say that one of the things that struck me the most is that Jeff has a great body (don't yell at me - I'm just noting for the ladies - LOL!) - he has the best arms, smooth, tan, muscular...okay, that is all I will say...back to the music. His wife is stunning, 'tho - I wish I had said hello to her, too - but, I never know if they want to be bothered by fans.

Anyhoo...glad you got back home okay, Deb (strung out)! I wish you had gotten up there with us - I wanted to get something to drink but I was pinned in there & I figured I better stay put or I'd never get back. There was a girl in a wheelchair near me & she was really rockin' out - she was almost out of the chair! It was fun!
Deano & Lula, you two are funny with the back & forth....you remind me of a couple I know. :)
Christy, I forgot your screen name here, what is it? It was nice to hang with you (you have a gorgeous smile & you're sweet) & Debbie from TX (I can't believe you have grandkids- you look too young) - it was too darn hard to hear each other 'tho - my ears were ringing louder by the end of the night & my brain was really fuzzy by that time...Tracie, I'm so glad you made it in....hope to see you all again.

well, this just whets my appetite for more LIVE music! Hmmm....I know Marco plays nearby. :)

Hi Tammy :D It was great finally seeing you again too!!! Let me know if you decide to go see Marco's band, I may have to sneak up there with you :D They were great!!! I would love to see them play a longer set.

How cool was that show??? It was so cool to have Neal and Jeff just walk through the crowd like they new everyone there. It was always so great to see all the familiar faces again: Tammy, Jill & Gary, Dana & Lula. It was such a pleasure to finally meet Sandi, Cyndi and Debbie.

Ooh, also the guy that looked a little like Steve Augeri is a friend of mine name Johnny. He is always too happy, but a really nice guy. He is a good piano player, but doesn't sing at all.

Bye-4-Now :D

Thanks so much for sharing the pix and the stories. I really wish I could have been there. I'm in Florida and the sad thing is, the Journey shows coming up are still too far away from me! I'm in the panhandle of Florida.

Teri,

I was just going to PM you to see if you were coming to any of the FL shows. Too bad they are still far away. Most of us are coming out of state.

Boo fucking hoo.

You do realize that people are coming from all over the country don't you?

There are things called interstate freeways you know? This is the United States, not Kazakstan. Get your ass over to your rig, turn the key, drive the motherfucker down to Tampa and watch the show. Pretty easy. Hell, I figured that out all on my own in 28 seconds.

LOL! Dirt is pretty old Dean.

I must agree, the sound coming from the front of house mains was crap. I knew it was going to be bad when I saw those little cheap-ass Fender p.a. mains. From what the sound guy told me, Fender (who was sponsoring the event) brought those in just for the show. They were apparently not the normal house mains. I cannot believe someone didn't put a stop to that mistake before it happened. You would think that if JSS and Neal Schon were going to perform there, they would have used some real p.a. speakers. Those Fender mains were made for a garage band's practice room - not for a nightclub packed with bodies.

Anyway, I just got past the bad sound and enjoyed the show. There was enough energy in the place to make up for it. I'll bet if they do it next year, they will put a JBL System as a rider in their contract.

I've got a bunch of good pics from the actual NAMM Show, but I won't be able to post them until tomorrow. Today I saw Ricky Phillips (bass player for Coverdale/Page, The Babys, and currently for Styx), and Dave Amato (guitarist for REO Speedwagon) at the Ampeg booth. There were a bunch of other guys with them who were dressed like rock starts, but I didn't recognize any of them. Maybe when I post the pics someone else will be able to.

Eddie Van Halen was apparently there Friday night for a private event at the Fender stage to announce a new line of guitars that they are producing in collaboration with him. I'll post more on that when I post the NAMM pics. Too bad he didn't come out to jam with Neal and JSS at Loffler's - LOL! Rick Nielsen, Graham Nash, and Nancy Wilson were at the Martin Guitar booth, and Pat Travers dropped by the Paul Reed Smith booth. Twisted Sister's Eddie Ojeda was seen at the Epiphone booth, and Paul Stanley of KISS was at the Randall amps booth.

Hey great, wake me the fuck up when Eddie decides to do something for the fans. I'm just about sick of the Van Halen debacle. Fuckin' dumbass. Don't get me wrong, I love Van Halen music. 'Van Halen Music' I am sure as hell pissed at Eddie for his bahavior toward his member and fans. I don't know if drugs have fucked him up or what, but he's been a jackass lately.

Yes, but not the right type. NAMM stands for National Association of Music Merchants. The primary goal of the show is to support the vendor-dealer relationship.

Watch this and see what you think. Don't get me wrong, I've loved the band Van Halen for as long as I can remember, but Eddie has taken a long leap off of the bridge of reality. If he brings back Michael Anthony and produces a new record with either Sammy or Dave, I'm there, but he's so fucked up right now that I don't think any of that will happen.
Sorry to rant, but I'm a long time VH fan, and am very upset over their recent decisions.

Yes we did! 8)

I'm in one of the pics, but I won't say which one or who.

Voyager and I are great friends. In fact, I was able to get him into the NAMM show (long story) after a snafu with the NAMM folks left him with paid plane tickets and no promises. *sigh*. He and I and two other friends (new friends to him) all went out there and partied our Journey-lovin' butts off. If you were able to listen "thru" the sound system, the bands were great, and yeah, the medley was EXCELLENT. I wish I had a recording of that one!

Anyway, yeah, the sound was complete crap... totally unworthy at every level... when it wasn't sounding boxy and farty, it was cutting in and out resetting itself or distorting. To be fair to the sound guy however, the normal house rig was a JBL system, and the sound guy said FAR superior (I have no reason to challenge him on it). HOWEVER, Fender sponsored the event to some extent, including cramming their substandard crap in place of a real PA system as well as supplying some (actually darn fine) guitars for raffle prizes.

Anyway, I had a helluva good time regardless of the sound issues and would do it again in a heartbeat. Man, hangin' out in a bar listening to bands with Neal just as another person in the crowd right next to you... too too cool...

I just can't get over the fact that he ended up in such a bad place in his career...

Yea it's kinda sad. He can still bust it out evidently, but he's just about destroyed the band as it is now.
What I wouldn't give to see them put out an album with either Dave or Sammy, not Gary...lol

Great pics! Once again, guys like Neal and JSS are out there on stage, doing what they always do. That is one reason why I cannot get over the unbridled Perry worship. These guys are out there playing music because that is what they love to do. Meanwhile, Steve Perry is holed up in some undisclosed location doing NOTHING!!!

Plus, if you opened it up to the public in Los Angeles, it would become a nightmare. As it is, over 85,000 people attended the show and it was PACKED. FYI: There is, however, a way to get in if you're not a musical retailer. You can get in as a visitor of one (as I did). Each person who goes as a buyer can bring a visitor for $25.00.

Even if Perry would just come out and say, "Look guys, my voice is shot and my body is tired from touring too much - but I will come out and do a select number of songs with Journey at five shows a year when they are on tour" would be an acceptable compromise. Steve would love it, Journey would love it, and most of all - the fans would love it. As it is now, Steve Perry is kind of in the same category as Eddie Van Halen (minus the booze and drugs) - he is not caring about what his fans want.

I got the whole thing recorded on vid/audio.

Best song of the night, hands down, was the closer. Neal leaves, and Jeff says "one more." I said to myself, "fuck, my arm is tired as shit from holding this camcorder." Anyway, the disco medley is flatout awesome. About 10 minutes long and 10 songs meddled in. To me, song of the night.

Praise was very well done. I zoomed in on JSS, NS and Marco. Those guys looked to be having multiple orgasms.

All in all, a great night. Worth the ten bucks and 75 bar tab.

Met a bunch of MR people. Strungout is very cool. I am sorry I kept farting...too much Taco bell I guess. Silverblue (Tammy), was a real sweetheart and Girllikeyou( Debbie) is the bomb. Very nice lady.

oh no you don't!! YOU were droppin the bombs, not me! you already confessed!!! bwaahahahaha!!!
