The Colts could be playing Al Queda, and I'd still have to flip a coin.

Damn....I missed that post. Good one AR. I say the same thing about the White Sox. However, I WOULD be rooting for Al qaeda.

I live in the Chicago area, and I heard nothing about this in the media. Maybe I just missed it, but I seriously doubt that phone calls from specific area codes were not answered. I wouldn't put it past some drunken fools to throw the snowballs though, and that's just wrong. I think the heckling is normal anywhere. The signs were mean and uncalled for. It's sad, but you have all kinds of whack jobs living in every city. Some of them can even afford those tickets! I have a friend who has season tickets and was at the game, so I'll have to ask him if he saw any of that behavior.

I live IN the city and only heard from a co-worker that her friend was called a "whore" for wearing a Saints jersey. Where at in the burbs jrnychick?

I'm in the northwest suburbs--in the ever-exciting, traffic-filled Buffalo Grove.

Buffalo Grove is very nice. Almost moved there in 2001. Settled on the city's southside instead. Buffalo Grove has become quite populated since then, though. Still a very nice area.

The taunts about the hurricane are sick (heard some of them on call-in Philly radio the week the Eagles played NO, too).

However.

One thing seems AWFULLY fishy about the article.

That according to Shoemake, who according to the article is just a joe shmo fan, " if you had a 228 or 504 area code, calls for help were not answered."

How in HELL did he verify that charge? :o

I thought it said that they "acknowledged" that or something else. And I found the Katrina comments to be funny as hell. With all the sympathy they DEMANDED, they turned themselves into fair game. You NEVER hear Mississippi bitch, moan or complain and parts were hit JUST as hard. They organized, united and worked together. They didn't demand, loot and whine. For the record, the way the Mississippians chose to handle matters worked MUCH better.

No, it said the Bears acknowledged and apologized for inhospitality some of their fans.

THIS guy's making the rather large accusation that the team deliberately ignored New Orleans cell phone number area codes that phoned into a stadium help hotline set up by the Bears.

What could this guy have done except ask a few other Saints fans to verify that?

It just seems totally preposterous that a professional business organization would chose to engage in silly, pointless, and in the unlikely event it was true, reckless behavior such as that.

Fans are fans, but team officials are team officials.

Thanks Saint John! I actually grew up in Buffalo Grove too. My parents bought a house in the first subdivision built here in 1965, when this was still "out in the country". My husband grew up in Arlington Heights. We have also lived in Lake Zurich and Mundelein, but moved back to Buffalo Grove in 2001. It's funny how I couldn't wait to get out of town when I was a kid, but then I ended up back here again!

What team do you root for?" the reporter asked.

"I'm a Colts fan, " the child said.

You won't believe this, but I just got this in an email from a friend:

Very funny !!

Two boys are playing hockey on a pond in a Chicago Park when a crazed Rottweiler suddenly attacks one of the boys. Thinking quickly, the other boy takes his hockey stick, shoves it under the dog's collar, twists it and breaks the dog's neck, saving his friend.

A reporter is standing by, sees the incident, and rushes over to interv iew the boy.
"Young Cub Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," he starts writing in his notebook. "But I'm not a Cubs fan," the little boy replies. "Sorry, but since we're in Chicago, I just assumed you were," says the reporter and starts writing again.

"Sox Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific Attack," he writes in his notebook. "But I'm not a Sox fan either," the little boy replies. "Sorry, but since we're in Chicago, I just assumed you were," says the reporter and starts writing again. "Bears Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific Attack," he writes in his notebook. "I'm not a Bears fan either," says the boy. "Oh... I assumed everyone in Chicago was either for the Cubs, Sox or Bears. What team do you root for?" the reporter asked. "I'm a Colts Fan," the boy replies. The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes:

"Little Bastard From Indiana Kills Beloved Family Pet"

My best friend lives in Lake Barrington Shores. We go to the TGIF every time I go to see him. The Lake Zurich fireworks display has also become a 4th of July tradition. It's really nice out there. I still play softball in The Des Plaines Park District. The field is on Dempster where it meets 294. Our sponsor is Chasers Bar and Grill. Great place. Ever been there?

I don't recall going to Chasers. It sounds familiar though, so I've probably passed it. I don't go to bars often since we have a kid and so do most of our friends now!
