btw.. where is this higher place?,,, is it for a woman , or was it because the band was alive again...

I think it's just a love song about a guy who's inspired by a girl to be better than he thought he could be.
"I crash and burn inside my mind, it happens time and time again" speaks to his lack of confidence, or being undeserving of this delicious piece of ass.
Least, that's what I think.

Nice reply Pa. I look at it as if the guy in the relationship never really lived up to his full potential in the relationship and now wants to prove to her more and more that he can live up to her expectations knowing he might have to toss away his pride to do so..

Yep, 90% good old guy and girl/Adam & Eve scenario (with a different twist) but I give Larry's theory 10% credence, the different vocalist/new lease on life message was there a little bit, too.

Augeri was good for Journey, and will be missed by me. I think what did him in was not making the older Journey songs his own. Trying to be too much like Perry on old and some new (which I can understand being done), taxed his voice. But each cd was a step in Augeri's own direction, and I liked what I was hearing. Generations is one of my top 10 cds.-ERIC

Lots rolling with Faith In The Heartland.
One of my favorite comments ever was the late great Amaron or some other self-banished exile who we'll not soon forget echoed my feelings before the sounds of the song were even a glint in our ears when I first laid eyes on the title of that song (on this site for me), my first thought was "Oh no."

So very true and yet the song ended up kicking tons of ass allaying all my fears of triteness.

Exile? I'm flattered.
