Wal-Mart Records?

Postby Deuce » Sun Feb 11, 2007 5:20 am

I was surprised to read that the new REO Speedwagon album is going to be released exclusively through Wal-Mart. I've heard of Wal-Mart having exclusive bonus discs and things like that, but never an entire album.

I've been looking forward to this album for years. I heard some of the songs live last summer and they're amazing. I'm definitely going to buy it; I'm just a bit confused by the whole Wal-Mart thing. I'm only 22, but I still prefer things the old-fashioned way! :D

Just a marketing gimic. They did the same thing with their 'digital download' of Evanescence "The Open Door." By buying it through them via digital download, you got a bonus track 'This Last Song I'm Wasting On You.'

However, when the single of "Lithium" came out, said bonus track was the B-Side. (and it was a boring awful song.)

It's just another marketing ploy to get you to buy their stuff there. If I had to choose over a music store or Wal-Mart for music, the music store gets my support every time.

It definitely seems like they're going to be giving their fans a great deal with the bonus live disc and DVD. I'm sure that it'll be a great package and well worth the price. I hope that the April 3 release really happens.

Those "Bonus-Tracks" are the most time boring and awful. What´s the reason they didn´t put it on the official release?

Because they are not good enough!

I hate those marketing "Bonus-Tracks!

If WalMart, the US' biggest retailer, can afford our favortie artists an outlet for releasing new albums that the bands otherwise may not have, then I'm all for it.
