He's just got it where Journey music is concerned Joe13. Whatever it is, he would own it if Perry didn't.

Well, as JSS might say as he did in one of the best posts ever when someone looking for a thrill and a few seconds of fame ripped him here

"ah...another satisfied customer" right when the shit was thick for him from his "gain 10 fans" post

laughing now thinking of it :D
Just one more thing that's cool about him, he's pretty secure about his ability to pull the Journey gig off in spades.

Hope it's not too distracting  :D I think someone may have used this one in the past; if so, I'll change it, hate to be a copy cat. I'm a little slow with computer technology and just now figured out how to link a freakin' avatar

Opened The Door sounded great with the vocals for me close on if not spot on and Neal`s guitar playing sounding as good as you`d expect from the top player that he unquestionably is.

Great stuff, roll on Birmingham NIA in March.

Some of the end of Where Were You sounded a little rough...but I don't think there's a human on earth that can nail those notes, including Perry himself right now. I'm talking about the very end of the song where Perry goes high. JSS seemed to *minorly* struggle there....but shit, like I said...who wouldn't.

The rest of those two soungs is simply fucking powerful as all get out. Hell, Was Opened The Door even DONE when Augeri was singing in the band?! The fact that they're playing this stuff is just awesome. Where were you, Opened The Door....I'd fall off my chair if Winds Of March was done....

Although, I for one, prefer Sammy over Dave....the facts still remain that when Sammy was fronting VH, there was a limit to the amount of Roth-era songs that were covered. It got tiring to see Sammy sing Panama, Jump and You Really Got Me year after year...when they could have played a whole handful of great, timeless songs from the Van Roth era...but chose not to.

In this case, it seemed like the Augeri-Era Journey was handcuffed to the Dirty Dozen....obviously, we now know that they were forced to play the DD because thats what they had 'tapes' for. But the good thing with JSS...which is similar with the good-thing of Cherone joining VH...is that they started playing Unchained, Somebody get me a doctor, etc... Journey is now playing old shit they haven't touched in years, and it's fucking awesome to see.

Here's a boot of Augeri singing Open the Door -- I have to say JSS does a much better job.

Opened The Door was done at least once with Augeri, in 2004, and he definitely had his problems with it. By that time, he just didn't have the pipes anymore to get there (I don't know if he ever did, honestly, but that topic has been beaten to death already).

Now if Jeff and the boys do break out Winds Of March someday like you mentioned, I'll be a happy man! :D

I'm not sure what year it is from -- the boot is called "A Northern Journey". I think they were in Canada.

Sorry, don't mean to be mean but the Augeri version is pretty sad. Out of key all over the place. Man, JSS just elevates Journey to a new level.
