Hey, AR, check out the red part! :P

Rank the following singers on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being someone who sounds like they gargle sand, and 10 being someone who’s mastered the art of voice.

Jeff Scott Soto
Vince Neil = 5, I gotta give it up for Vince cuz the 1st Crue album RULES, even though his voice aint Lou Gramm, his vibe was the shit in ’84!
Jani Lane = 5, I know Jani is a better singer than a 5 but I’m just not a fan.
Paul Stanley = 3, ok, don’t give me any shit, just not a huge KISS fan & his voice does nothing for me.
Bret Michaels = 3, another strong front man, but the voice, well most know.
Mark Slaughter = 5, I think Mark could sing better than what he uses his voice for, not a fan of the ‘cloud’ singers but if he brought it down an octave, I’d give a better score.
Glenn Hughes = 10000….you can’t just stop at 10 for the Mack Daddy of singing!
Don Dokken = 4. again, not a fan of his voice even though most see him as 1 of the better guys fro the 80’s.
Michael Sweet = 8, Mike could sing high & low & has a pure voice, sometimes too Dennis DeYoung, sometimes too high, but nonetheless, a real singer.
Joe Lynn Turner = 5, Joe gets a middle score cuz I used to love his voice in Rainbow, but lately it’s changed too much for me to enjoy anymore.
Sebastian Bach = 7, he’s got a very strong metal voice, although not my cup of tea, still wails.

Anyone got this song to post?

Calling All Girls = This was supposed to be my anthem for finally having some chicks in the audience after so many years of Yngwie’s predominantly male audiences. Would have worked if the fucking label did their job right.

Is it any funnier than the Separate Ways vid? :) Sad thing it was done by the same director as Hot For Teacher, 1/8 of the budget!! At least the energy hasn't changed since I did this in 1990 :)...yea, pretty funny shit here!

No funnier to me than seeing clips of artists from the 50's thru the 60's.
Just a moment in a particular time period captured on tape.

I'm a pretty damn big Journey fan:!: There is very little from Journey that I consider bad, one of the things I do though is that SW video, I hated that thing the first time I saw it, and still do today. I've got to think that the band and a lot of other folks that were/are/have been involved with Journey must think WTF were we/they thinking there?Image
That Calling All Girls video was way better than SW in my opinion, I enjoyed it.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

A very interesting interview. I did like question 17. But overall, I liked the interview because Jeff is straightforward honest in his replies.

Jeff, there are some demo boots out there of you ! I should know, I have them.......... and I gave you one of them. 8)

I don't know how aware some of you are with that site...Metal Sludge is more a parody of the hair metal scene, it makes fun of that whole era & most of my answers were tongue & cheek, rock star things that make people laugh more than to be taking seriously....trust me, most of what seems like it was off the cuff answering IS! If you know the site, you'll know what I mean, dig into it yourself & you'll see what I mean :)

I check that site everyday right after MR and Blabbermouth :)
I LOVE all the 20 Questions, Rewinds and 3-peats.
And the folks are just down right funny :)

And hey, they are about the only site on the net that
STILL pays attention to bands like Love/Hate
(doing some reunion shows in LA soon), they always get some funny-ass stories
(Like Marq Torien of Bulletboys fame acting like a Diva) and let someone like
Jizzy Pearl post tour diaries.

BTW everyone, I think the SW video wound up as cheesey as it did
because it looks like it was a last-minute decision right before all the
tour trucks pulled out of the wharehouses to start the Frontiers tour.

Jeff, can you ask Neal, Jon or Ross about the SW video?
Welcome to Terminus... You hungry?

The Chain Reaction video is a bit silly too!!
After The Fall wasn't TOO bad, as far as their "concept videos"are concerned.
No wonder they did only performance videos.
Separate Ways is such a powerful, dark and emotional song, the video totally ruins the vibe of the song itself.
Air keys, drums, guitar and bass?!The director of that video really needs to shot on site.
What the hell was he thinking? Why didn't Herbie step up to the plate and say "this is bullshit"!!
I know Perry could not have been happy with the concept or final product.

Perry was probably more pised off with his haircut at the time than anything else :D

And like I said, I think this was a last-minute deal right before all the trucks rolled out.
The video is shot at the wharehouses where the stage production and equipment was
packed up, at least judging from footage on the F&B video.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if someone from the crew shot it :)

Jeff,

Travis & I have been checking out a lot of your previous work since coming home from Florida this week. We are so impressed by the diversity of the stuff you've done over the years. Hair metal, Queen, VH, Prince, and of course all your own stuff, and now Journey~so many different styles, and you nail every one of them!!! You're definitely one of a kind!!! 8)

After watching that last video, I just have one question...are you sure your last name isn't "Winger"???? :?

Well, I've seen several YouTubes and stuff on his website, but you know me, Sallee...I'm always willing to unload what you want to send my way!!!! 8) Of course I've got this really killer boot of a Baltimore Journey concert... 8)

That video of his cracked me up...definitely not the same guy I saw a few nights ago in Clearwater. Looked like maybe some Randy Jackson spandex there, Mr. Soto... I think it's awesome!!! I love 80's hair metal!!

exactly, Donna. I was just thinking the same thing.

after I saw the Queen dvd, I thought, "this guy is not human. how can a brain hold that much music?" now there is more. I didn't know about Eyes.

(I'm talking about him like he isn't here  )

I love it that you are fun Jeff and don't take everything so seriously. You hard the hardest working vocalist I have ever seen and it just keeps coming! amazing. I can't WAIT to see where you take us next! rockrockrockrockrockrock
