Interesting that they wouldn't do the same for Augeri (or Perry) when he was having trouble.
This would've definitely helped him.

Sorry, but it's a fact. I'm GLAD that Jrny is thinking more about the long haul and trying to
preserve Jeff's voice. Too bad that they couldn't have lowered themselves to do it years ago.

Rock on!

True. It was never mentioned. The last shows recorded with Augeri certainly didn't have changed keys, but maybe they tried it once like they did with Jeff and it failed.

Yep, the Old Man is a Czech and helped get my boy Jagr a gold medal.
As for MVP, sorry Dean, that's going to Crosby or Broduer.

BTW RedWing, could you elaborate on the follwing comment
you made earlier because I have no clue what you meant

Yeah the young guys are impressive, but 1 goal only counts as 1 goal, even if you're 15 yrs old.

Just stating that young guys don't get "extra credit" in a game for being young. Though it does indicate a bright future, like we'll have with Zetterburg. And some yet to be named city will have with Crosby  sorry dude I had to, too easy.

Yea, but those 20+ goals become even more impressive
when you look at how young they are and how they are doing it.
With Staal and Malkin you got 2 front-runners for the Calder,
at 19 yo Crosby has a VERY legit shot at the Hart and Art Ross
and Therrien may also snag the Jack Adams. Now I know this
all means nothing once they get beat in the second round.
But for a city that hasn't seen NHL playoff hockey in 6 years,
this is a dream-come-true.

And be careful, it's not as 'easy' as you think.
The Pens aren't going nowhere, mark my words. 8)
That is until Crosby, malkin, Staal, Whitney and Fluery
ALL come up fro Free Agency within 2 years of each other!
THAT is gonna be a downer for Shero!

I'm sure someone knows a lot more about his setup than I do (I'm a guitarist, not much of a keyboard player), but I've seen other keyboards that look like pianos but still have lots of electronic buttons and sounds and such. I always just guessed it was an electric piano housed in a grand piano shell just for visual effect. But I'm pretty sure a real piano can't make the 80's sound he uses on "BGTY."

The Whale is a real piano. Cain's "B"-rig, appropriately named "Shamu", is an electronic piano in a grand piano shell that is a bit smaller than The Whale. It has been painted the same red as The Whale so that the two will be indistinguishable to the casual fan.

I believe The Whale has been fitted with a MIDI interface, which would account for the different sounds of which you speak.

Some good tech info from Cain's website, including info about The Whale and Shamu:

What the fuck was I thinking about Hasek? Sorry, I completely fucked up. It felt wrong typing it...I should have researched on NHL.com. o well.

Luongo is the MVP. Crosby is awesome, but without him, they might still be a playoff team. They have Stoll and Malkin. Broduer is the best goalie of all time, but even still in the East, the Devils could still make the playoffs. Vancouver wouldn't have a chance without Luongo. The west is so much better than the east.

Bro, I hope the Pens do sweep us. We have been playing well lately, but I want that top draft pick, like the Pens have stockpiled for the last century or so. Not that there is a Crosby in this year's draft, but we should be able to get a quality youngster.

I hear ya. And the Pens can't leave Pittsburgh because that would
mean yet another sport being robbed of an outstanding rivalry

What are the chances of Foppa re-signing next year with Philly,
you heard anything?

Some Philly journalists think it is possible, but I think they will wait to see who else is out there. Plus, Pete can't always be relied on with his injury history.

Dude, put down the crack pipe. Brodeur is good, but the best I ever saw was Grant Fuhr in the mid 80's. Edmonton had that wide open attack, sacraficed defense, basically left Fuhr to himself. Those games they'd play against the Flames, I'm telling you he didn't have "the trap" being played infront of him for most of his career. And this from a team that knocked out my Wings 2 years in arow in the Campbell Conference finals. Fuhr was the best I ever saw, I hated him.

Eat the corn out of my shit. Marty can stop a tidal wave. That dude is fuckin insane. He will throw up the legs to make a slding save. Fuck Fuhr....He had an open attack to be sure, but his goals against were a lot higher than Marty's....A Lot.

Not a good idea to combine a sports thread with a Friga piano thread. Two totally different interests. Sports people could give a fuck about a piano. Beleive me I know. Good try anyway.

Well, I spoke to the Frig in Florida a few times, and hockey always came up. I am starting to really dig the shit out of the Frig. He is a huge Sharks fan. He was talking up getting a solid D man, and putting some bite into the team. He was right on the money.

I mean, that would make complete sense. No changes in 'playing', no re-learning anything.
Just curious...
Anyone know?

Well, I do know that my former Church Organist had a Hammond that was remodeled, updated, and installed with a "pitch modulator".

It was the coolest thing....some of the songs would be too high for me to sing (at 8:30 in the MORNING  :x), so all I would do is turn the dial 1 or 2 clicks; turning it to the left and lowering the pitch of the song....she'd play the song just as it was written, with the same placement on the keyboard, but BAM!!....instant transposition! 8)

nora,, i used to go watch a band where the piano /keyboardest played every song in A , regardless of the real key,, its was funny really , because the band talked trash about him all the time,, inbetween each song he would be hitting buttons left and right to make the key coming up ,A.. 8)

I'm watching. Pittsburgh is put together really well. Scorers, checkers, a goalie...man, they need to find a way to keep this team in Pittsburgh. I can see another Quebec Nordiques team leaving Quebec City for Denver and winning the Cup the first year there. And Kansas City doesn't deserve to be the champions of the best trophy in sports. Goddamned Hell hole. I went through there last year, and smelled cow shit for 50 miles. Gimme my BBQ and leave, KC.

KC didn't support the Scouts back in the seventies, and they don't deserve to get the Pens now. No matter how nice their new arena is.
