Hey, study harder! He muffed these words in Florida too. Just trying to help you out here....

Here ya go.

Faith In The Heartland Lyrics

(Schon, Cain, Augeri)

He goes to work in a brand new dawn
With the early morning sunrise
He's got his dream and he's holding on
It's getting harder every day

He loves a girl who speaks her mind
Don't always look at life the same way
Sharing truth that will heal in time

They want to believe something real
Still they're searching
They're keeping the faith in the heartland tonight

Time moves on as the fading town
And they struggle with the changes
The stores have closed, friends have moved away
Now it's hope that sees him through

The kids have gone but they'll see them all
At the Sunday congregation
Sharing dreams truth will heal in time

They want to believe something real
Still they're searching
They're keeping the faith in the heartland tonight
Ooh, it's words that divide them
It's love that defines them
They're keeping the faith in the heartland tonight

In our darkest hour, oh, we look to the sky
With a silent prayer
Believe that God's on our side
In a land where freedom rings
And where eagles fly
Ooh yeah, yeah

They want to believe something real
Still they're searching
They're keeping the faith in the heartland tonight
Yeah, it's words that divide them
It's love that defines them
They're keeping the faith in the heartland tonight

Ooh, I just want to believe it

Give me something to believe in
We all need something to believe in
In the heart tonight

Got faith
Got dreams
Yeah, we're keeping the faith alive

No, I told him the other day, and he disagreed, but this is the tune to break out for the Euros as they pull their troops.

He grew up in some forgotten Midwest town
His Mama raised
him well
Barely getting by but he'd be okay as far as
he could tell
The plant in town closed ten years ago
Now an empty ghost ship stands
For the last nine months
he's tried to find a job
But there's nothing to
be had

So he signs up to fight for Uncle Sam
The only choice he's got
To fight a desert war in
another land
Only to find peace or not
He's a
moving target in a desperate place
Everyday's a twist
of fate
His family wonders if he'll make it home
Knowing his faith's his saving grace

Now
he's waking up in a strange land
Face an even
stranger day
Brave ones standin' tall
Keep them
all out of harms way

So they send him home to his
family
Nursing wounds that no one can see
Certain
sounds and smells trigger flashback spells
That rewind the
tragedy
His memories hold him prisoner cause of the
violence he regrets
What was his ticket out is his
nightmare now
And a war he can't forget

Now he's waking up in a strange land
Face an even
stranger day
Brave ones standing tall
Keep them all
out of harms way

Feel free to stop hijacking my threads....I never hijack others.'

If Soto can't get FITH right, why the Hell are you confusing him even more by putting this song up? I agree with him; this song has fallen flat to me as well.

Uh uh Dean. OOHW blows FITH completely away. It's the best Journey song that's been written since Perry. I'd love to hear Jeff sing it. I wish he'd reconsider.

In fact, they should rerecord it for the new CD.

After having Gens for a year and a half, OOHW and TPIYH are the standouts to me. Followed immediately by ISD.

Back on track - Did JSS screw up the lyrics? Who does he think he is, DLR?

BTW, congrats on your new title. Did Drew make that up especially for you, or is that the title everyone gets when they hit 10K?

Marty said in the Newcastle thread that Jeff was reading the lyrics to FITH on stage. I like TPIYH better than FITH too. I can't think what ISD is.

I am breaking his balls over really nothing..I muffed a word or two maybe in the first stanza..no real big deal..Just fucking with him. He has a sense of humour, and dude accepts criticism. Should we start up a blog about Sotos lyric troubles?

Get em right, or you're out by tonight.

it could be possible that he just needs for us all to be there so
we can sing along and guide him....that means we get to go to all the shows for free!

I'd rather see a singer miss a couple lines during a show than be reading from a teleprompter all night.

I mean, f'ing Toto has teleprompters...how hard is it to remember "I could be good for you, you could be good for me too" repeated a bunch of times? (and funnily enough, Bobby Kimball still messed up the words to "Hold The Line" at the Chicago show last year, despite singing the song every night for several decades now)

If someone messes up some lyrics, hey, that's a live concert. (at least you know then it's not on a tape  )

I will cut JSS some slack though, since he didn't write any of these songs. When Jon Bon Jovi or someone needs a prompter for their own songs...I dunno about that.

It happens dude. I saw Bruce, totally forget the words to Born to Run..He busted up laughing..the fans can appreciate a little self humility.

On his Barcelona DVD, he flubs the entire song Spirit in the Night. that was good stuff, and he still released the DVD!

I like that song, kinda has a Separate Ways sound to it.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Hmm I wondered why Bobby was looking at the back all the time. But is his eyesight even that good? He totally nailed Hold The Line to be honest. I was standing up dancing & yelling. My 1st time seeing them. But he lipped other stuff & it sucked. I have never seen any man pee that much though or at least leave the stage after SO much water. My husband (who pees a bit too often at 52) said Bobby was about 3x as bad as him!

On the subject of getting lyrics right, 8 years later, did SA EVER get the lyrics right to DSB?

Cut Jeff some slack. He knows all the Perry songs cos he's a HUGE fan like us. But he obviously never sang in his car like crazy to FITH. Nor did I!
