Ross has said you "don't have a life"...that you are "obsessive"...that you have been "disrespectful" to the band...that you say "idiotic things" ...and that all your work throughout last year was "one big lie".

Yes - I believe that Journey have no choice. They have to deny the use of tapes. There is no other option. But was it necessary for Ross to go on the attack and try to make you look like a mad person?

The fact that he simultaneously chooses to hang out with you - and allows himself to be photographed having a good time at the MR.com party - does make the PR strategy seem rather cack-handed, don't you think?

So I'm not sure I understand why Ross' duplicitous behaviour is helping the band to clean up its reputation for being shady and dishonest. Or am I missing something here?

Matthew, if I can accept it for what it is, why can't you or some others? I am really starting to put this together....You are a huge Perry fan, and all the people who KEEP relentlessly persuing this topic, all are just anti- Journey in the scheme of things. Look, so Ross bashed me...big deal. It's what needs to be done. I have no problem taking bullets for the band (greater good). They have given me much more joy than than they have disdain. Therefore, I know what I did, and so do others, and that will be that. If people want to believe in it, or believe it didn't happen, that is fine too. I want this Band to continue on, and I am doing my part to smooth over the rocky road.

Now, since my post the other night, I have received quite a few emails asking just what in the Hell am I up to. The truth is, it's just a new direction I am taking, and I will say that a fair enough nuber of people look at my actions or direction, and climb aboard....Hopefully, I can bring some unity here and elsewhere and we can have a more cohesive block of fans....Of course, there will always be warring factions, but my goal now is to live healthy, and oh yeah, minimize the bickering by my behaviour on the Message Boards.

Probably because a bunch of us actually admired the stance you took last year - whereas Ross's response seems cheap and devious. No, I'm not suggesting you start a war about it - as you say, it's no big deal in the scheme of things - but if some of us want to interupt the cheerleading for one day and express our contempt for Ross's tactics then I hope you can accept that too.

What does being a huge Perry fan got to do with this? Come on Deano - you've pursued this more relentlessly than anyone else. Okay - you drew a line under it a week ago but the band is now commenting on Tapegate for the very first time and the recent interviews seem like a reasonable topic of conversation on a Journey board.

I disagree. Yes, the band have to deny Tapegate - I accept that - but Ross' comments about MR regulars (after he has been willingly photographed at a party hosted by the very people he's attacked) suggests that Journey's PR machine is still utterly inept.
