Let's help save rock and roll....

If there were a discrete way to do this, I would. Since Andrew moderates the boards and is the owner of the site, that's not possible, unless I IM'd everyone, which would take all night. Anyway, we're all aware how he's poured his heart and soul into melodicrock.com, and I daresay that there are more than a few artists out there who owe their continued viability in large part to the existence of this site.

So, I'm going to propose that we all pitch in his time of need. I order 10-15 CD's a year based on his reviews and through his sponsors, but given his problems with advertising revenue...I propose that those of us who spend a lot of time here reading and posting contribute $10-$20 in the next few weeks, sort of like a site membership. To me, that's money well spent. I want this site to continue forever, until Andrew's kids are ready to take over in 30 years or so...by which time this will be the #1 music site on the 'net.

I think the only way we could do this would be via an on-site link...I'm a Flight Simulator addict, and a lot of the people who create the add-on files do it for free, but enable you to contribute any small sum of money that you think would be appropriate. I hope everyone rallies around this idea...$5, $10, $20...whatever fits your budget. Remember, you wouldn't just be saving this site...you'd me saving melodic rock as we know it.

Well if this site is in trouble, I'm all for it. If Andrew would add a link for PayPal donations/contributions or something of that matter, I'm definitely in. I think this site is the best on the net.

Hi guys - thanks for the posts.

Yes, it is true that I am experiencing a challenging time. I have to diversify in order to survive this business and have some ideas and plans.

But in order to move on, I have to get through the current issues which have been compounded by a couple of flaky sponors and the general down turn in revenue that everyone in this business is experiencing.

Donations would certainly be appreciated and by all means, go a long way no matter what the amount. There is a donate via PayPal link on the frontpage:
http://www.melodicrock.com/#donate

Yes, this is a pain in the ass, but I'm confident I'll find some way of getting over the hump and moving on.

I haven't spoken to Andrew, but I believe this site could use some financial support. Seriously, this place goes, we go. I seriously believe Journey should donate some bread for this site, and because of Andrews' never ending support, and his silence on the matters of last year.

Fuck the forums.
Content-wise it is the best front page and features rock site there is....

"Let's reform this thing.Let's go out and get some guys who want to work and go do it"--Neal Schon February, 2001

I found it, but only after some looking. Man, make that icon 300x500 or something, put some flashing arrows pointing at it with some wombats running around. Seriously though, that icon is sorta buried in the page.

great idea, bad execution.

Somewhere, someplace there'd be someone who would call it hush money.

Not saying he doesn't deserve some help in some way. I'll check to see what I can handle.

I hear ya, point taken.

What I was trying to say is Mgt, ahem, a certain bands Mgt, should just cut a check, bottle it, throw it in the Pacific, and push it towards Tasmania.

When I try to log in to MR-X I get this message:(even though I'm using the right password)

I'm gonna keep bumping it. There is a PayPal icon on the front page that needs some folks attention I think.
