Fresh off his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen, Sammy Hagar will next be saluted by the San Francisco Chapter of the Recording Academy for his long career as an artist and "one of America's most beloved hard rockers." Hagar will receive the Recording Academy Honors, along with singer-songwriter Linda Perry and producer-drummer-songwriter Narada Michael Walden, on April 29th in the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco. Proceeds from the event, which will include a silent auction, will go to the San Francisco Chapter's long-running programs in education and professional development.

According to a statement, "The Recording Academy Honors was established to celebrate outstanding individuals whose work embodies excellence and integrity and who have improved the environment for the creative community."

In other news, Hagar will release a concert DVD on June 19th called Sammy Hagar And The Wabos -- Livin' It Up! In St Louis. It was shot on his 2006 tour, during which he did full sets with his band the WaboRitas and with bassist Michael Anthony, when they played Van Halen songs as the Other Half. The 19 songs, which are in both stereo and 5.1, pull from Hagar's time in Montrose and his solo career, as well as his Van Halen tenure, while the DVD also has bonus material including interviews with Hagar and his bandmates and videos fro the songs "Sam I Am" and "Tropic Of Capricorn," among other items.

The tracklisting for Sammy Hagar And The Wabos -- Livin' It Up! In St Louis includes: "Mas Tequila," "Mexico," "There's Only One Way To Rock," "Rainy Day Women (#12 & #35)," "The Girl Gets Around," "Rock Candy," "I'll Fall In Love Again," "I'll Take You There," "Sam I Am," "Little White Lie," "I Can't Drive 55," "Heavy Metal," "Good Enough," "Summer Nights," "Right Now," "Finish What You Started," "Best Of Both Worlds," "Fight For Your Right," and "Cabo Wabo," plus the bonus interviews with Hagar, Anthony, guitarist Vic Johnson, bassist Mona Gnader, and drummer David Lauser; the "Sam I Am" music video; a making-of feature on "Sam I Am"; the "Tropic Of Capricorn" music video; the "Got Cabo?" video tour of Cabo San Lucas; and the "Tequila Made Me Do It" tour video.

Speaking of Johnson I still get a boot-in-the-ass out of the Red Voodoo liner notes when his anger with Edward was at its peak and Samuel wrote (through his sphincter I might add) that "Vic Johnson is the best guitarist I've ever worked with"
"I love almost everybody."---Rocky Balboa 1990
"Let's reform this thing.Let's go out and get some guys who want to work and go do it"--Neal Schon February, 2001
"I looked at Neal, and I just saw a guy who really wants his band back"-JCain 2/01
