That would be cool if it's legit. However, I'm sure we would have heard of it if it were.

It appears to be a release for the UK - Sony and Legacy both do a lot of "repackaging" - and call it a compilation - to get more bang for their buck. Sony did a lot of repackaging for the Japaness market last year.

If you click on the small "journey" under "Only the beginning of ...." it lists several albums by Journey as well as others with "journey" in their names.

My money says it is someone's compilation. That is probably the reason for no track listing - the word Journey and a cover with a rendering of a scarab on it will automatically sell to Journey fans - even if there are only one or two Journey tunes on it.

Or it could be Irving's latest to make a buck. Journey went over well in the UK this past season - a quick and easy way to keep that interest going especially with no tour this summer.

[Edit: thanks for finding the track list Susie - it is all Journey, so I am sticking with the best way to make a buck]

All just thoughts and opinions.

Seems to be Legit. This same label just released a Judas Priest Cd called"Live in Concert,June 25,1980". Here is the review from the latest edition of Classic Rock Magazine.

Journey
The First Part Of The....
Label-The Store for Music Limited

Precise origins are as mysterious as the record label.
The label sounds like a discount warehouse next door to a branch of Matalan in West Thurrock.

What we do know is that the strangely titled CD, was recorded in Denver in 1979, and you get a killer set list, heart pounding songs like LTS and City Of The Angels (from that years Evolution album)rubbing swoonsome shoulders with Lights and Feeling That way (from 78's Infinity,Journey's first album with Steve Perry).

The sound quality isn't great (there is notable "stereo failure" through On A Saturday Night), and the harmonies don't soar quite as much as they should. Nevertheless, the Bay Area balladeers put in a fine performance, even harking back to their beginnings with some extended jazz-rock nonsense on Too Late.

Classic Rock rates the album a 6 out of 10, which translates to an above average rating.

Hope that helps!

UK Classic Rock reviewers don't tend to agree with the majority of opinions on here.

So very annoying. The stock label always affixed by the uninitiated media.

This sounds like a boot masquerading as a proper release to me?

"Stereo failure" sounds like a radio broadcast boot.

It could be someone trying to sell the famous, excellent "Evolution Stage" boot. That comes from a broadcast.
