Maybe Perry's touring voice is gone, but I'm holding out fruitless hope that he can do a studio follow-up to FTLOSM.

Been spinning that, "Street Talk" and "Greatest Hit, A Lesser Hit, Some Songs That Got Sporadic Airplay And A Bunch Of Shelved Tracks" lately and whereas I'd rate Street Talk #1 before, now I'm fully convinced that FTLOSM is actually the better record. Yes, NoMoTa. I said it.

This thought just occurred to me...what if it isn't about SP being able to still sing or not...what if it is the writing part - what if he has writer's block? Writing or finding the right songs could be a factor - you can't sing something that doesn't feel "true to you"...what if he wrote a bunch of stuff & then said, "no! - awful - not gonna share that"...I'm just thinking out loud, but he is a perfectionist & all. I think he still can sing from what I've heard on the backing vocals - probably not like he used to when he was younger, but that is understandable.

What does respect & not liking my voice have to do with each other? How can you not respect me for being asked to join this band? It's a strange choice of words for not liking what I bring to the table which you still have no real idea yet as we haven't done a new album yet, of course the comparisons to singing Mr. P's stuff will forever be a matter of opinion & taste but the next phase of when we record will reflect more on if it works for you or not....respect has nothing to do with this unless I did something to rub you the wrong way which I hope I didn't in some indirect way

I agree with Jeff. I know it is difficult to sometimes accept a new member into a band you have grown to love over the many years of its existence. It is not to say that you are not entitled to your opinion, but there is a difference between not liking the "new" member and having no respect. Respect is earned and can also be viewed on a personal level. Apart from Jeff's amazing talent as a vocalist and producer; he is a very generous, kind-hearted person.
By the way, ..wait for the new stuff before excluding him altogether!

That's what striked me too,after all the shitty recordings out there,finally a good one.However,the user doesn't have another one up,or maybe I didn't see it.

Well I debated whether I should respond specially since T- Bone was here on the thread, I thought maybe he might POSSIBLY ban me for telling you how I feel, you know that is what happened the last time someone talked to you... BUT this is by YOUR request. I'll try to be as polite, as I can in giving my response to you, I wouldn't want to make you angry, and have you explode on me for simply stating my feelings.

Although I'm pretty use to having people here explode on me and call me every name in the book, so it wouldn't be anything new for me, I've been on this board a VERY long time , and been a fan of Perry/Journey for years!!!

On YOUR link,( singing performance) I said , it didn't do anything for me... meaning nothing special to me. Now remember these are MY FEELINGS that you asked to have explained to you.

Then somone else on the board got bent out of shape because I didn't say your name on the board when I gave my opinion of your performance and felt I was being disrespectful of you, so she asked why I didn't say your name, and I said I had NO respect for you. Then all the others jumped in to add their verbal assaults to me, and to defend you, because they were unable to keep their emotions in check, and could NOT handle someone saying "anything slighly negative" towards you.


Anyways, when I said I had no respect for you, it had nothing to do with your singing performances, I think you know that too. I DON"T think highly of ANY GUY that uses "verbal assaults" towards women for ANY REASON!!! It was totally out of line, and it was the SECOND time you had done it.
