I love Stevie, she's awesome, but she basically blew out her voice on coke. Maybe you like the old days though with her? she was absolutely beautiful, charismatic and wonderful voice.

Just saw her live. Voice is still great. She has had that raspy sound since the beginning.

You are absolutely correct I did say that she was hot. And in MY opinion she has gotten even more attractive with age.

On "Hellbound Train" even though Jeff is supposed to be the backing vocals, but you hear his voice louder and clearer than Lita's! 'Atta boy, Jeffrey :)

Now that is a cool fact. Thanks for the info!

Ann Wilson had the strongest rock voice, Annie Lennox has the superior pop voice and maybe the best pure singer out of all of them...

...but Stevie Nicks is God.

strungout wrote:Honestly can't decide between Ann Wilson and Pat Benatar, too close. And with ya Red when it comes to Janis Joplin. While I really like Sass for her gritty vocals, never did get the appeal of Joplin's. :?

Two more great choices AR, Patty and Jann, but not sure who Heather Nova is.

X Factor: Sass was going to join Van Halen??? :?

Yeah, I aways heard that she was one of the ones Eddie had his eye on when Sammy left, and that perhaps he even extended an offer but Sass refused. Remember, Eddie also had his eyes on one Patty Smyth after Dave left...IO think he's always sorta harboured a thing for chick singers. This is pure speculation on my part, however...

Ann Wilson wins this one, hands down! She is one woman who could always just flat out sing. I heard her live a couple of years ago, and she still sounded superb...such a powerful voice! I think she and Perry might be related :D

These polls are tough, Shania!

Couldn't choose between Ann Wilson and Annie Lennox.
So I tossed a coin.
Lennox got my vote.

I could never understand the appeal of Joplin's voice. To my ears that wasn't singing. It was just a horrid noise.
And I always find Christine McVie's voice more haunting than Stevie's. Not a 'rock' voice, though, but it has a nice soothing tone to my ears. :)

How right you are. Can you imagine if Journey's new vocalist was a sexy, lush beauty? Err, well he is, but I mean if the vocalist was a women? The threads on this board with these guys, would be a sex manual.

I agree about Joplin. Waste of flesh.

Has any band ever had as much talent in it as Fleetwood Mac? Love them.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, wine and chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "what a ride!"

Completely agree. I think the thing with Joplin was that she was the first "big star" of a certain genre of gutsy female vocalists. She was a soulful screamer. Nothing more really.

Doesn't JJ do a bit of carpet munching these days with Thingy whatsherface Electra bird?
