I also think it's worth pointing out when a tribute band singer 'pokes fun' at another singer who is paying tribute to the very same band.
LOL...he didn't say HE wrote better songs then Journey...He is saying he wrote better songs WITH JOURNEY then are on TBF. Too funny. As usual, people love to take statement completely out of context to back up their own feelings on something. He also said in that interview that he prefers the Departure era of Journey. TBF is FAR away from the Departure sound, or what he did with Gregg, Ross, and Steve Smith in the Storm...So, he doesn't care much for TBF, and I don't think he likes ROR much either. He holds the band up to different standards and he knows what they are capable of because HE HAS WRITTEN WITH THEM, and performed with them.

Oh YOU know why? Care to share fleabag?

They're all (mostly) sung by talented vocalists, but there's no soul or passion. Pointless.

What makes people say that..... ??

I love this, too.
How the HELL can one guague that?!?!
McNeil wrote:What makes people say that..... ?? All I hear is a class singer...doin justice to the songs.... and he is putting his own inflections in there. JSS is great...but Kevin would have continued the legacy of that certain Journey "sound" ..that we all know exists.
RockinDeano wrote:Trial By Fire Art is amazingly intelligent. It's biblical, as is the 2nd song One More.
TBF BLOWS away Arrival.
Perry v Augeri. Hmm, lets thin about that. Ok, done. TBF is twice the record.

One can't.Only the man (or woman) who sings it can. You know I just wasn't feelin it tonight dog....
Big J wrote: The gift behind JSS's efforts and Augeri's for that matter is they took the songs and sung them as if they were their own. Chalfant's singing covers. There's a difference and I think it has less to do with the gender that's listening and more to do with being able to feel the heart behind the efforts.

McNeil wrote:Maybe he will have his shot..in a couple years. I think JSS will move on from Journey, after a short stay... he is too "vital" in energy and ambition to hang around too long. He will record an album with them ..then move on to other projects!!
McNeil wrote:Kev has already proved he can out -journey "Journey" ..with both of "The Storm" albums!! each one a classic!
Aaron wrote:Dude, You are WAY off base here. TBF can't hold a dick snot drip to Arrival. Arrival has some good rock songs and a couple of decent ballads. TBF had one good ballad and the rest PISSED ME OFF to listen too. TBF was a middle of the road adult contemporary release at best. I'll take a good rock record please. Are you getting soft with the twins coming on?

very good assessment SJ.
you want me to cop to that?saint John wrote:TVL wrote:uh oh, it's like you crawled inside my head. Thats a scary thought!![]()

That's just my 100% honest opinion. We DO think a lot alike on a few things, huh?
saint John wrote:Well I think I'm in a VERY unique situation here. I've seen Chalfant, Soto, and Jeremey all in the last 8 days. I'll start with Kevin Chalfant. The man has a good voice. He can hit high notes but kind of like Hugo from Evolution, lacks power. His voice is not as thin as Hugo's but it's in the neighborhood. Jeff Scott Soto: An all around great singer. Very polished and professional. Sort of a chameleon in the way that he can make his voice sound very different from song to song. The most experienced and professional sounding artist of the 3. Great range, tone and delivery. Jeremey Hunsicker: The best pure voice of the 3. While not quite as polished as Soto, the guy can hit skyscraper notes and then sing a ballad that grabs your heart. A dead ringer for Perry. The guy should really consider some original music. He's THAT good. That is what I think of the 3. I enjoyed seeing all three of them immensely and consider myself very lucky to have done so. Thanks guys.

Thanks, SJ - That is a huge compliment. It's my hope that with some time off from Frontiers over the summer (we started backing off gigs early on just in case), that I can get into some writing before the baby arrives. I'm glad you got to catch our show last week!
