Feeling That Way

So...does anyone else find this situation as just desserts for the band? Perhaps even feeling a little bit of glee?

I was a huge fan of this band for many years. And I spent lots of time studying up on them...their backgrounds, influences, etc. I can't even begin to tell you the amount of hours that I spent searching out rare finds in record shops and conventions. This was all done before the internet, people. I own almost all of the videos (on VHS) that are seen on Youtube...plus lots more that I've been keeping to myself. I can guarantee that at one time I would have been happy to go head-to-head with Deano, Saint John and the many others that I have developed a respect for on this site.

However, my zest for the band pretty much dissolved back in 1998. I never invested another dime into the band after Perry was gone. I only saw the Vacation's Over tour on a free ticket. Enjoyed the show...yes. Was it the same...not even close. Friends would give me copies of the newer CDs and DVDs, themselves often not even aware that there was a new singer in the band. I took the gifts with a smile, listened a few times, and gently put them aside.

I never criticized anyone for supporting the newer incarnations of band, and I never got into too many debates because I was never interested in being classified or categorized for my musical preferences. I would check out the forum out of curiosity, and it was the personalities and banter that kept me coming back.

After all the years of bitterness, I actually felt bad for Mr. Augeri. Yeah, he was reduced to taped performances, but I never bought into it being entirely his fault.

I never saw a performance with Mr. Soto, nor did I ever watch him on Youtube, etc. I have no doubt that he was/is an amazing talent. My interest was just gone. I sincerely feel as bad for him as any of you do. There is no reason that creativity should be denied.

But I do have to say... for all of those who mocked the Perry fans, maybe now you have a better understanding of the disappointment, felt 10 years ago that still carries on to this day. I'm not going to mock or tease. We're all above that. But whoever said that this is finally closure for them...I raise my glass to you.

I hope you all find some sort of peace and serenity out there.
There's too much creativity out there for you not to.

Peace out.

With all due respect, disappointment did not give them the right to act like complete assholes and troll every single Journey board with "There is no Journey without Perry" and similar garbage. Some of us decided to move on and enjoy the new music, some did not. A good amount of the ones who didn't follow Journey post-Perry were the ones who started the wars and then played the victim.

I have no sympathy or empathy for them. They're still assholes.

Agreed totally. Again...that's why I chose not to debate and be classified or categorized. I just decided to moved on.
