What possessed them??

Totally agree. That's why it surprises me they did this, if it is like the This Left Feels Right. Jon even admitted on Larry King that it wasn't one of their better ideas and he said the fan's feedback on TLFR was 'don't mess with our songs'. So what are they thinking? Don't tell me he's been drinking out of the same sippy cup as Journey when it comes to stupid decision making lately!

Ok, now this new song they are playing right. The one that's for their new video. This fits what the show is about. His voice sounds alright on this one. When I first heard this song, I wondered if he could pull it off live.
So did-You Can't Go Home-last night. He knew what he had when he wrote that one. Can fit into many styles.

Unless I slipped into a coma during the show and missed it, I can't believe they didn't do "Wanted Dead or Alive". That's the tune that got this whole unplugged thing going in the first place.

Well- It was not what I expected. It was fine music for another occasion. I wanted to hear WDOA as they did it on Unplugged 20 yrs ago. Ritchie was reduced to a little strumming and chords and Jon did little. I will be shaking my head for the rest of the night wondering what the hell that was about.

I think it was "Wanted Dead Or Alive" that Richie totally messed up. I heard after two takes, they brought the rest of the band in to cover for Richie. If it was as bad as it sounds, it's not surprising it was cut.

In response to some you knocking bon jovi.
Firstly they have outsold journey twice, lets get that straight.Twice,120mill people can't be wrong.
Secondly while unplugged or whatever its called these days may sound like crap, they will still sell out any stadium in the world while journey will play to 1000,-2000 people .Or none at all considering they have no singer.
Thirdly, while steve perry is amazing or once was, where is he now?Steve Augeri,or how about that other guy that was just sacked.
While those guys can obviously "sing"..and damn well, its about entertainment and bon jovi has been entertaining for over 20 years, and will continue to do so.
The guy is a businessman and a savy one at that.
Some people want to hear you give love a bad name written all over again.Get over it,Journeys arrival sounded like something from 1986,as for there last cd ,did anyone buy it?
As for Jbj'S voice?Lets hear what steve perry sounds like these days.Your voice wouldnt sound crash hot if you'd played over 2500 shows, ill repeat that 2500 shows,to over 30 million people and will cont to do so.
Anyway ill be like thousands this summer watching them tour, while some of you journey fans will still be on these boards wondering if perry is coming back, and hoping it was 1987 all over again, lol

Millions of people bought albums by boy bands like the Suckstreet Boys and NSuck.

The last few tours by Journey have been amongst the top draws and biggest grossing tours. Perhaps not as big as Bon Jovi but nowhere near your fabricated numbers.

Thirdly, while steve perry is amazing or once was, where is he now?Steve Augeri,or how about that other guy that was just sacked.

Steve Perry is voluntarily retired, or is for the most part anyway. Augeri just completed a new Tall Stories album and JSS is ALWAYS working on something new.

Some people want to hear you give love a bad name written all over again.Get over it,

Ummm...No, they don't want to hear that song sounding like crap.

Who cares what Perry sounds like. He is retired. Jon Bon Jovi sounds like a whiny brat with a head cold.

I love Bon Jovi's back catalogue all the way up through "Keep the Faith". Everything since then has been mediocre at best and crap at the worst. Even Journey's relatively bad albums during that same timeframe have been masterpieces by comparison, regardless of what wish-washy music buyers are saying with their purchases.

God, that was awful. He sang & acted like he was trying to channel Elvis at one point. He always had some dork-ass moves, but he topped himself on this show. Richie? Wasn't this the concert just before he entered rehab? He looks broken and bloated. Voice still sounds good, though. Lots of soul...more than Jovi. These guys are too laid back anymore for me. I know it's UNPLUGGED, but their songwriting anymore has gone downhill in a big way.

Holy shit.

Bobby, did you just use the name of Bon Jovi's boxset as a soundbite against Journey fans :o :?: That's about as creative as the TLFR album (though I still like that live dvd).

 Why don't you read the posts before you get your panties in a bunch. Most of us in this thread are OBVIOUSLY fans of Bon Jovi. Thus the disappointment on how it sounded, (not to mention that we were watching it).
We'd be posting the same way if it had been Perry. (We should be so lucky, lol)
They had some nice moments, but overall, I was disappointed.
(BJ did look good, though.
A little dorky stage-presence-wise, yes, but still easy on the eyes.)

p.s. Also, we didn't go to a BJ website to sling mud. But since you came here trashing Journey let me add, album sales mean nothing when it comes to which is the best . BJ has made some GREAT music, but Journey at their best crushes Bon Jovi at their best every time!!!! And don’t get me started on comparing the voice of SP to JBJ (or most vocalists, really).
& from the little we've gotten from Perry in recent years, he still has a better voice than JBJ.
Though I will concede you this - at least you can still see JBJ in concert, (and get new music!) - something we can only dream of, unfortunately

It's actually the wonderful Leonard Cohen's song, though as good as Cohen's version is, Jeff Buckley did make it his.

lol, no need. You're not alone. I just love Cohen's writing, thus the plug.
& Jeff Buckley did such an amazing job that I really don't think anyone else should attempt this song. They'll probably always fall short of Jeff's version. 8)

As far as the Steve Perry vs Jon Bon Jovi- Its pretty clear how Jon feels about him when he brought him up on stage to sing 2 songs with them. Jon is a fan and Jon's audience went crazy.

clicked over Sunday morning on CMT, and heard a few seconds of YGLABN and left---that was horrible..
Bon Jovi unplugged was no good!!
If Journey wants to introduce their new singer (whenever he is named sometime in the future) do a PLUGGED in version of unplugged ala Springsteen on VH1

UIn respnse to you Carrie about whom crushes whom,Well thats just your opinion.
But in terms of popularity and sold out shows,Journey hasnt been relevant in the music industry since 1996..or is that 86.
While jbj is no steve perry, hes still a damn good entertainer, actually one of the best ive seen, and to top it off, this so called country album is about to hit No 1 in the good ol' USA.
When Journey hit no 1 or reform for that matter, send a post on here,Until then facts and figures speak words.
Popularity might not mean selling cds,but when you do it constantly for 20 years then surely it means something. The same goes for sold out shows in stadiums amongst arenas,Something which prompted journey to tour with another 80s irrelavant band,Def Leppard.

I'd rather pay money to see a "LIVE" rock show than to see the digrace that journey has come up with in recent times.Does miming ring a bell?
At least jovi dont mime? That would be nsuck, backstreetboys and ....Journey...hahahaha..
By the way how well did generations go over in europe,or australia or anywhere else for that matter,i mean is that why journey was playing theatres in the uk,while jovi just opened an arena in london.
If Journey was on top of there game id shut my mouth, but they havent been since Perry left,so case closed.
By the way Lost highway has just debuted at no 1..just thought id mention that.

Yes, I'm totally serious. I don't want to go see Journey anymore anyway, unless they bring Perry back. No Perry? No more Journey shows for me.

BTW, if Journey ever shared the stage with Bon Jovi, they'd blow BJ's ass off the stage.

Lastly, don't ever PM me again. If you have something stupid to say to me, do it on the forum.
