HAVE to see this movie this weekend.

BTW, go see 1408. Best movie I have seen in a LONG time. If you like The Shining, this is right up your alley.

I almost posted an OT for that movie. Definitely one of Stephen King's best movies...I kept saying 'holy shit...no way!', during the movie, it was done REALLY well...scary, and only PG-13...damn

Just saw it. I'll give a review (without giving away the farm). But if you don't want to be influenced... now is the time to stop reading.

OK. Over all... a good honest film. Has a few... issues tho.

1) EDITING. The frantic editing to make this film PG-13 instead of R screws it up in a few places. If you don't want these things pointed out to you, do NOT go to a film with theater/film techies. They catch everything. Anyway... dialogue shows a clear fuck you, and the audio track has something else, I believe 'crucify'. It didn't bother me, but it bothered my techies. And I have issue with the key phrase of the film. You know of the one I speak. And how it was portrayed. See it, lemme know if you agree.

2) I don't want to give away the plot here. But I caught some glaring directorial mistakes. Say... a bad guy... causes panic that say... affects the.... country. Wouldn't you think that there'd be PEOPLE running around like idiots EVERYWHERE? Once you see it, you'll get what I mean. They do to a certain extent, then all of a sudden, all the extras are gone. Budget issue? Directorial faux pas? I caught it, and I wasn't a techie.

Ok...now for the good stuff.

1) Action sequences were absolutely supreme. Beyond supreme. There was a guy sitting right behind me that quite literally, could not shut up throughout the film. Kinda like a little kid... MOM DID YOU SEE THAT??... cept he was with a girl friend. We thought him amusing, unlike the jerkweeds across from us pirating the film. When a film gets the entire audience clapping..it's a summer blockbustah.. oh yeah.

Notables:
The Holland Tunnel scenes.
The killing of the helicopter.
The kung-fu chick/girlfriend of the bad guy & the SUV and the elevator shaft.
The fighter jet, its bombs, and the freeway.

2) The tried & true one liners. Great, John McClane tauntings. Lucy McClane gets in on it too, as does the young ______ in trouble. Good enough to erupt spontaneous laughter from most of the audience.

3) John's laugh. He laughed, and the audience immediately remembered the McClane laugh...and claps. Good stuff.

Absolutely enjoyable summer blockbuster. Two thumbs waaay up despite the lousy film editing. Who should be drummed out of the business. and made to go back to college. For accounting. I am, therefore, looking VERY much forward to the unrated, director's cut. You know they are sayin' fuck... c'mon...we're not stupid! Damn studios.
