OT-The Police 7/3/07

Oh, man what a great freaking show! Ok, so I may be biased after waiting more then twenty years for this, but I had the BEST time at this show!! A lot of the critics aren't liking the reworked versions of some of their songs, but if they know anything about the Police and their live history, they have always done this to some extent or another. The setlist was amazing and "The Bed's Too Big Without You" was AWESOME! A few pics...including me getting about as close as I ever will to the Police!

I was in TOTAL BLISS!!! I was on the aisle, so I kicked off my shoes and danced and danced and danced! I've never sweated so much at a concert! Sting did pretty good, they must have had some backing vocals tracked, because at times you could hear them, but neither Andy nor Stewart were singing. Every Breath You Take was a little rough and he didn't hit the high notes, but had the audience helping along.

I could have left the building, been hit by a bus and would have been the happiest person on the planet! lol!

Speaking to Kay's BG vox point: Go to the mic and sing your parts. Why is it so hard? I hate that. Journey at least windowdresses that they're singing their bg vox a lot of the time.

I guess Sting could (should?lol) read the paper while 'Every Breath..' is on...The audience could sing that song word for word anyway.

I'll take you on your word for that, but I do distinctly recall several interviews in which he, at least, intimated that the song could have had some other significance. Whas it written from his perspective, or hers?

What did you think of "Songs From the Labyrinth"? I thought it was pure genius at times, but perhaps somewhat self-indulgent. He's really pushing the envelope now, and I love him for it.

I saw The Police in Las Vegas (MGM Grand), Los Angeles (Dodger's Stadium - 47,000 people), and Saint Louis (Scottrade Center) on this tour. I would go see them on every date of the tour if I could. They are the only band I have ever seen more than one time on a tour. I was a huge Police fan back in the day, so I decided to splurge.

I danced through the whole show in Saint Louis with the girl sitting next to me - and I didn't even know her (don't tell my wife - LOL!). They are such a high-energy band. It's hard to convey just how great they are in concert - you have to be there to experience it. I have seen a lot of good bands in my life, but these guys were the best I've ever seen!

Yep, I think it started with the handful of stadium gigs Bill Grahm begged them to play after the ESC4P3 tour and before the release of Frontiers.
They created this monster spectacle of computerized lighting, big stages and jumbotrons and stadium rock was forever changed for the better. EVERY band had to do it.

I love this picture!!! We were just off to the side, and the screens in St Paul were on top of the front of the stage, so we couldn't see them very well because we were basically underneath them. I would have LOVED to catch more then one show, but schedule and cash just didn't jibe very well for that. I so hope this isn't a one time thing and I hope they are recording this somewhere for a DVD. I can't imagine they wouldn't.

Well, yeah, it's in reference to the feelings he still had for his wife and even though he was getting a divorce, she was still an obsession in his mind, thus the stalking undertones.

To be honest, I really haven't heard anything from Labyrinth. I heard about it coming out, didn't get it right away and then heard less then stellar reviews of it, so I just never got around to picking it up. The Police are one of the few artists where I like their solo ventures...that's not always the case with some bands that go off on their own. Andy's albums are...different, but still really good in their own way.

Yeah, it was at the Xcel. I've never seen a bad show in that place. The sound is amazing no matter where you sit, not a bad seat in the joint. The Saturday before the Police we saw Roger Waters there and that was awesome. He had those great surrond sounds off the Wall soundtrack and did the entire Dark Side of The Moon album. Flying astronauts, flying pigs....Spectacular!

I'm hoping the same thing.It would be a shame not to release a DVD,especially now with this killer tour.People would buy it in a NY minute.

we saw QUEEN there spring 96 and the main event tour way back when now.... awesome place and yes not a
bad seat in the house!!

... BTW, I will repeat what the other guys are saying on here...you look great.. Radio gig still going good??

The Saturday before the Police we saw Roger Waters there and that was awesome. He had those great surrond sounds off the Wall soundtrack and did the entire Dark Side of The Moon album. Flying astronauts, flying pigs....Spectacular!

I saw Roger Waters the Saturday night in Vegas after seeing The Police the night before at the MGM Grand. We were blown away by his show. It was the best Pink Floyd rendition I could have ever imagined. I mean, they had three female backup singers, four guitarists, keyboards, light show, the whole works. It was an unbelievable production. Wasn't that female lead singer incredible when she did the vocal solo on "Great Gig In The Sky"? Also, did they release the confetti from the ceiling at the show you saw? And that flying pig was too much! I have a shot of it on my cell phone background. Then when they played "Money" they had the cash register sounds going off in surround sound - it sounded like they had eight different tracks coming from all over the arena - even from behind us.

Yes, yes and yes! lol! I thought with the three backup singers they would all take turns like Floyd did on the Divison Bell tour. She WAS amazing! We got the confetti and the pig etc. I'm just really turned off by artists toting their political agendas into concerts though. That was my only beef with the show, otherwise it was as I said...spectacular!
