With all do respect, Andrew is not the denfinitive word on Journey facts and until anything otherwise is officially announced by Journey, ANYTHING is still possible.
If Journey had an official lead singer, and it wasn't Steve Perry as was in the past, I would agree with you that this possibility would be scarce. However, they now have a vacancy and this could open the door for a return of Steve Perry. Yeah, Steve said it is not true, Andrew said the same thing and Rockin' Deano I beleive echoed....but until a final choice has been made, the options are open and I am quite certain that Steve Perry is got this on his mind. Besides his comments may truthfully reflect the present but the near future may hold a different card. I am still of the opinion that something else that is much bigger is going on in secret as to this would be the only logical reason for the abrubt departure of JSS.
Yeah, you can say they are all stupid, but people who manage them are not. And believe me when I tell you that I know ALOT more than you may think I do.
Trust me.
Your own explanation of "anything possible" renders your proclaimed knowledge equally suspect.
I get what you're saying: you never know. However all we can go by is what's currently known which is that there's a vacancy. The speculation that Jeremey is going to fill it is the more probable out of everything being chatted about.
There's 2 conditions: what's impossible & what's probable.
By SP's words his return is impossible. Since Jeremey has met with the band and auditioned his joining is more probable.
To me it seems the logical reason for dumping JSS was because he was brought in to simply bail them out. Some thoughts of him being permanent were obviously discussed but just like the Sting example in this thread - those thoughts were quickly reversed.
Bottom line: you can never know for sure. Regardless of what "insiders" want to sell as gospel not even they know for sure. How can anyone? How can someone say what move someone else is going to make when they don't even know!
I agree with you that no one can know for sure. Steve Perry never said his return was impossible though. Additionally, you have to look at the sequence of all of the events to conclude what may be more likely.
With JSS, they got the BEST concert reviews that they have had since Perry was in the band. Nobody can dispute this as it is a fact. So why in the world would they cut JSS? Yeah people on this board keep going back to egos but that it simply not a realistic assumption. If they wanted to only USE JSS to bail them out, they never were obligated to make him a permanent part of the band but did so because of the GREAT job and reviews JSS was generating for the band. So why cut a good player, especially after years of having your key player continuing to have throat and pitch problems?
Well, my BEST answer is that Perry perhaps has had a Sting like moment? It certainly may not be official yet, hence Perry's words on the rumors, but it may be in discussion. Perhaps this is why they let JSS go, in fairness to JSS as well as fear with going on with JSS would jeapardize Perry discussions.
The only other logical reason for this action is if JSS did something wrong to the other members of Journey. Maybe he slept with one of there wive's? That would be worthy of getting kicked out, right? Now I am not saying he did such a thing, I am just trying to open up the discussion for rational reasons why the band acted as they have.
If they had ANY concerns about the sound of the band et cetera, they NEVER would have offered JSS a permanent gig, it's really that simple.
