For the record, BA can NOT sing like this anymore. Here are my 2 favorite songs by him. Sorry for the gay General Hospital video, but he didn't make one for ONLA. The chick is pretty hot though. I'd throw my crank in her. The live version of Run To You is awesome. Dean, he simply can't perform at this level anymore.

If Perry had significant voice problems and he stated he was taking vocals lessons recently, why then wouldn't he just get the surgery that Steven Tyler did? Maybe he doesn't need it? I know what I asked Uncle Joe and he has no reason to lie and he surely understands what fans want to know.

Damn SJ...actually, thank you for the gay GH video!! I'm fanning myself  So this is what housewives (and househusbands) are watching these days while we're at work?! That make-out session near the beginning was pretty damn hot...it definitely worked to keep ONLA in my head, yowza!

Surgery is a personal decision, not a group decision.

Squirt, let me fill you in on something.

Uncle Joe is a fucking Disc Jockey. he loves his position of playing records for a living, and occasionally filling spots on his show with rock stars and thus NEVER alienating them. I on the other hand, don't give a flying shit about their feelings, unless obviously screwed over. I can tell you regarding Journey, I am much more a trusted source than Uncle Fucking Joe benson. I spent an hour down tghere with him last year during Tapegate. he listened to all the evidence and then told me I was full of innuendo and told me to get the fuck out of KLOS. Now, who do you want to come to for information?

Really???? I never knew that!

Dean, I get how you know about Journey stuff, but how is it that you're so confident about SP's voice now? I believe I've read that either Lora or Cyndy have commented that his voice is sounding really good. Certainly they can be trusted as reliable, close sources of information regarding Steve Perry. I personally don't know if he's still 'got it' or not. From what I can hear on this song though (which isn't much, cause I don't have a trained ear like many of you) he sounds pretty good.

It doesn't really matter if he's still 'got it' or not if we don't get to hear it... :?

Uncle Joe Benson is a tired old fart that has NO future. He gets to see old has been stars...He doesn't meet Bruce Springsteen, Bono or Jaeger..he meets Kevin fuckin Cronin, Ted Nugent and and the Blue Oyster Cult. Sadly, Perry is no bigger than those hackholes.

Anyone who knows me knows I flatout love Cyndy and Lora and I respectfully disagree. Look, Steve and CP and LB are friends, and I won't say Lora is full of it...BUT,

Let's do the math. Any singer who still can sing, sings. Ok, let's play a game...Perry is a perfectionist...I get that..but if he could still sing lead, he would. ..he would accept an offer from Neal to come out and sing, for his fans, right? or he would at least put out a solo album, for his fans, right? or he he would do a soundtrack song right? Surely, if he could sing, he wouldn't waste a bunch of time on backup singing for a shit band like Guff. it doesn't take a genius to figure this one out. hell, George W Bush had this one nailed a long time ago. And all you fucking lopns, stop typing. i already know what yopu are going to say before you say it. I AM a huge SP fan. i am also an honest fan. Steve is done, sadly.

That's a part of the experience.
But I know about that aformentioned because I've been guilty of it a time or two. Sadly one of those has-been-hacks was a Journeyman. Go figure.

Putting my loon hat back on for a minute...

WHY would he accept an offer from Neal???? You said it yourself, Neal has tried to 'trick' him into singing, to make himself look like a better person. It sounds like he's outsmarted Neal more than once... It's pretty apparent how incredibly stupid Neal is for allowing what has happened to this once great band.

I don't know why he does (or doesn't do) anything. Obviously he has his reasons. I'm not trying to discredit you, I just want to know how you know what you know. Is it speculation or is it fact? Reading your response, it sounds like it's speculation, but that's okay. I know ABSOLUTELY nothing, so everything I say is speculation! My point is that perhaps (and I don't know if this is true, so this is more of MY speculation) Lora or Cyndy have heard him sing. I don't know them as well as you do, having only met them once, but they don't strike me as the type of people who would say it if it weren't true. More than likely, they would refrain from saying anything.

I may agree that he is done (jury is still out on that one for me). But, if he is done, I don't believe it's because he can't sing. I believe it could possibly be because he doesn't have the heart to do it any more. I believe he may be somewhat grieving for "what was" and it may be preventing him from jumping back into the fray. That's how I interpret some of the things he's said in recent interviews.

I love how you added the little jab at George W. I don't get the connection, but I love ya for throwing it in there!!!

Not saying Neal outsmarted SP here, but he clearly comes out as being the "good guy:" with the good gesture. Neal was indeed smart for offering the olive branch knowing full well SP would never bite, and the media would talk to and favour the only talking party(Neal).....

Donna, I have yet to post any innuendo and you know that. I dig for my info and I post truth. Cyndy and Lora hopefully won'y hate me, but I have talked to people, musicians, close to Perry, that confirm he is a shell of himself. Sure he can sing half assed better than anyone else 100%, but he still can't sing to the level of his former self. That is Fact!

I may agree that he is done (jury is still out on that one for me). But, if he is done, I don't believe it's because he can't sing.

What? Makes no sense.

I wasn't around when the WOF thing happened, so I don't know who said what about that whole interaction (or lack thereof). Make up your mind though... was he being a schmuck and wanting to do it to make SP look bad, or was he doing it as a "good guy" making a "good gesture"? I don't think he's a very good guy, and I REALLY can't believe you're taking up for that dickweed.

I simply want to hear someone who has actual first-hand knowledge of his abilities say he "can't" before I will believe it.

The problem that I have with your truth on this subject Dean is that your truth seems to change depending on what mood you're in. One day you think Steve Perry is the next best thing to God, and the next you say he's shit. I am not doubting your credibility, but just trying to make you see that what you are saying is opinion, just like the rest of us have. There's nothing wrong with having whatever opinion you want to have, it's as individual as you are. But, it isn't a fact until there is proof. And if Steve Perry never sings/records/tours again, we really won't have that proof, so everything that ALL OF US are saying is really just a bunch of words on a website. And at the end of the day, who really gives a f*ck!!!?

Steve Perry's voice is as at least as good now as it was during the TBF era. THAT is from firsthand accounts. Some say his voice was in trouble then, but I don't think so. I really feel his heart wasn't into that album and in some ways it showed. Personally, I love the album but can see how others might not. I have no doubt that Steve Perry will one day put out another project, but highly doubt it will be with Journey. For the first time in a long time, he sounded as if he was having fun with the Guff tune and THAT is a good sign. For once, he sang on something other than a ballady wrist slasher.

A lot of Deano's review was dead on the coin with that album. I know he hates the latter part of the Augeri era now but the music spoken of glowingly in Dean's review stands on its own.
