I haven't lived in Chicago for many years. Schuba's used to be totally cool. Saw many a great band there (Smashing Pumpkins before they were anything, for example). The Park West is awesome & always an intimate feel too even tho it holds quite a # of people. The Vic was a bit rundown for my liking. I don't know Martyrs at all. But I can't dig The Abbey as that's too small & pub-like. I thought they only had Irish bands anyway? Or has that changed since my days in Chi-town too?

Dear JSS, if you ever read this, don't play the HOB in Chicago, it's a piece of shit. There's some great smaller venues in the city that I think would be perfect for JSS.

Yeah I'd have to agree. What other venues are still there? Schuba's still around? Park West?
