That song was a HUGE hit! We're talking about songs that never made it to the big time! I do love that song though...

That song should have made it bigger than it did!!

Destiny is a gorgeous song off of Dream after Dream, love it!!!

Hey girl,

Destiny??? That's cool, but I just never got into the album AT ALL!!! I just bought it to round out my collection. That was the ONLY one I was missing. Don't get me wrong, the music was beautifull, but it wasn't Journey (Minus Little Girl).

Do you have 'The Journey Continues'? Or 'The Ballade'(or something like that)?

I think "Mother Father" is one of my all-time favorites to play on the keys! Such a dark song.

yep its a dark song about alcoholism.i think neal schon does a great solo on it too.i think he has always been a very underrated guitar player.i read an article years ago where the guitar player in metallica said that he loved neal playing but would never admit it because it wasn't the cool thing to do.

Amen to that! I loved "Troubled child". Very dark and melodic. I think that was my favorite era. His voice (IMHO) had hit its "Sweet spot" to my ears. it was a little more grown-up, had some rasp to it, yet he could still hit all of the notes! Man I miss those days!!!

I love how his voice, at the end of the deep notes still had that lilt from Escape and prior.

Hey Scarygirl, not trying to be a smart-ass, but what is a lilt? I've never heard that word before(and I'm too lazy to look it up!).

Got it!

I had heard that term in my life more than a few times, but had a completely different thought as to what it meant. Now I'm so confused! :(

Back in the day, "Lilt" was also a home perm! :P

I can't believe I haven't passed out yet tonight!!!

You're right about it not being the "Cool" thing though. Journey has caught so much shit over the years for "not being cool, or selling out", that it makes me sick! Actually, the same thing was said about Metallica years ago! It's like, if they don't play for the masses, they have a small "Cult following". If they write kick-ass music that everyone likes, they sell out. I don't get it! I'm with you about Neal too! He and Steve Lukather are probably my favorites! Steve's branched out a lot more though. He's a hell of a studio musician!!! They both have very similar styles, and are actually friends.

Hey man,

Sorry, I just saw your post! No, I don't have ALL of the compilations. I was talking about their actual albums. I do have a greatest hits cd from Germany though! It's completely different from ours. The booklet is entirely in German, and the songs are all different. It has a lot more Rollie stuff in it (Saturday Night Etc...). One of my prized collections! I have probably 750 cd's in my music room! Lol!!!

I have always loved the dainty solo early in the song, followed up by the angry Neal solo when the song has heated up. That song is one of their top 3 ever. What a fucking album that is.

Yup, Neal is amazing, Ross' bass is alive, Cain's keys sound fantastic, Smitty is perfect as usual, and Perry is at his peak, which is saying something. I know everyone has their favorite, but to me, that album is the masterpiece. Everyone at their absolute best.

I flip-flop like a fuckin' democrat when it comes to Escape and Frontiers. I think if Frontiers had included Ask The Lonely and Only the Young it would have been better than Escape, but Escape as far as what IS on there gets a slight edge. However, now that I believe the remaster has those two on there, I'll go with Frontiers.

They're different animals. The songs on E5C4P3 have been played to death, as have many on Frontiers. But if you try to just hold them up for song strength, you have to go with E5C4P3. Frontiers is great, but synth heavy. It works, but is not the classic Journey sound.

Lot's that I can think of, but my absolute favorite would have to be Winds Of March. That song just had an impact on me for some reason.

Not w/ Neil Giraldo in the house on the Spyder.

Whenever life's got me feeling like a squirrel stuck in a tractor's nuts, I just flip on "Homemade Love" and proceed to laugh my ass off.

Always makes one feel better.

Just try not to laugh at "Jelly-roll-la-la-la-loovee"

TRY IT!! CANNOT BE DONE! MOTHERFUCKER IS A FREAK!
