Why cant Dean C front the band, and get a new drummer.

Postby garysings » Thu Jul 26, 2007 2:01 pm

This way, the fans already know Dean, and they know his as a singer because he sings the hard songs of Journey. Immediate acceptance. The drummer can be Steve Smith, or if hes not interested, plenty of great drummers looking for work. Perfect solution. No perry impersonators, no tribute singers, no shame. and Dean sounds exactly like Perry, so they can have their perry era sound that they want.

From what I have read on this board, Deen did not want the job. He prefers to be behind the kit. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I heard the same thing - he doesn't want to be upfront. He sure could handle the job....until his voice blows out. Seems to be an occupational hazard with the Journey catalog.

Deen doesn't want to front the band.....

You're right on the money -- he doesn't want the job as a frontman. If we lived in bizarro world, I'd say who cares about a frontman and just let him sing behind the drums all night.

He wouldn't be the first singing drummer. Henley, Collins, for example.

His voice doesn't have the power of Perry or Soto. But what a backup for the high notes.

And if he doesn't feel he can sing the whole show from the front, he won't be able to.
Mind over matter and all that.
Some people are natural front men. Some aren't. He knows his own ability.
Sensible bloke. Why blow out his voice......like so many have before him.

Deen CAN'T front the band even if he DID want to. He blew a chord singing 2-3 songs a night several years ago. No way he could sing 3-4 nights a week for an entire tour. He KNOWS this. The guy is a drummer and will remain as such.

Maybe he should have never started singing ANY of the songs. It seems like this has now become a curse for him. People just won't give up on the "Dean should be the singer" routine no matter who Journey's lead singer is!

I seem to be in a negative mode today....

Memo: Deen is NOT a good drummer. He is decent. He is energetic, which is what most people care about, but that's about it. He is liked because he is in Journey. If he were in ANY other band, he wouldn't even be noticed.

While I certainly don't think he is in the same league as Peart, Bruford, Palmer, etc., I also think he is a good drummer, which is better than decent.

I think Castronovo is a premeir drummer. Def. upper echelon.

I keep saying this: Why can't JSS front the band?

Deen's a good drummer, but I prefer Steve Smith's drumming.

Send an email to Friga & Fro. Ask them. Then let Jeff know too.
