Thanks, Liz, for the link; just sent my message... Cannot bear to even watch any video re: this terrible crime--imagining what is going on makes me feel sick.

Take it from me — Michael Vick is done with the Atlanta Falcons. And he
is certainly finished in the court of public opinion.

Vick may need Hail Mary to escape indictment
Falcons QB has incurred wraith of feds, public with dogfighting allegations

Enough with the “These are the dog days of summer” jokes.

This will be remembered as the week of Michael Vick. Typically, this is the slowest time of the sports year, but then the Atlanta Falcons quarterback was indicted by the federal government. This story will dominate the sports pages and talk radio for much of the near future. And it will likely get worse before it gets better.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I relish talking to sports fans on my radio show. It's refreshing to talk to passionate fans. And it's a tough job when it comes to taking calls from a PETA member in San Francisco, go next to an emotional Falcons fan and then read every word from an 18-page federal indictment that accuses Vick of taking part in a dogfighting operation.

This elicits heated reaction from fans all over America because they either own a dog or hate these types of thuggish activities. One listener cried on my show because he recently had to put his dog to sleep and could not imagine someone dousing a dog with water and then electrocuting them. An Illinois woman screamed that she continually called the Falcons' executive offices only to get an answering machine and had to leave a message for team owner Arthur Blank to release his star quarterback.

Take it from me — Michael Vick is done with the Atlanta Falcons. And he is certainly finished in the court of public opinion.

Even if Vick has the best legal team money can buy, he seems to have little chance of clearing his name. He may spend millions to keep himself out of jail — I have seen plenty of high profile celebrities and athletes pay their way out of trouble and get on with their careers — but he has to get cleared first. It's clear his legal team is already trying to figure out how to discredit any of the government's witnesses and as long as these witnesses have a prior convictions or a shady past, Vick has a good chance.

What type of evidence does the government have? Can they prove Vick transported dogs across state lines for the purpose of dogfighting? Do they have video showing Vick was at dogfights? He owned a house that housed and trained dogs, but his lawyers can likely prove he didn't spend much time, if any, at that residence because his primary residence is in Atlanta.

The government must think they have enough proof through the witness testimony. But it's not an easy task to prove he ordered the death of several dogs that were not able to fight or agreed to their deaths. After all, how credible can the witnesses be when they would have had to have been at the fight as well?

And what about Falcons owner Arthur Blank? He must contact the NFL to discover his options before his star player reports to training camp on Thursday. Blank reportedly may ask Vick to take a leave of absence in order to focus on his legal defense and to take Vick out of the limelight so the Falcons' sponsors aren't dragged through the gutter by association. A leave of absence won't be easy to arrange because of the league's salary cap structure, nor would a release. (Why do you think the Tennessee Titans have held on to the services of Adam “Pacman” Jones through all of his legal woes?)

The government usually gets involved in high-profile cases because lesser courts and local prosecutors cannot always get a conviction because they are overmatched to high-priced defense teams. Vick’s legal team may very well have to pull off a “Hail Mary” to get Vick out of trouble.

Yes I know you are referring to the football play.

However I said one of these (the prayer, not the play) this morning for Tammy Faye Baker who passed away last night. And I asked for forgiveness for all of my judgement and ridicule of her.

And I have prayed for the dogs. Even the ones that were still alive will be put down. I asked for a peaceful
passing for their souls.

Even tho I am trying to be more compassionate, I cannot imagine saying one for Vick or his legal team under any circumstances.

Vick will face his God alone.

There's a lot of talk too about the fact that the main house most of this happened at was his house, but he wasn't there much.
So f'n what. If I get pulled over and someone in my car has pot, and even if it's not mine, they can take seize my car.
I own a house, I'm not there much, but it's being used to make meth, they can take the house from me.
Even though all of this makes me so sick and I am in no way at all defending him one bit.
Let's say, even though this is riduculous to even say, that he wasn't involved. Well, he sure as hell had to know what was going on at a house he owned.
I'm just sick that I keep hearing over and over that he wasn't at THAT house much. So f'n what. This will have no matter in the situation and not hold up.
Shaking my head that I even looked forward to when the Falcons would be on so I could watch this piece of shit. This along with the fact that we are animal lovers, is just pissing me off more and more everyday.
I can't let it go because I cannot wrap my head around it.

Exactly.

And even if he was only at that house once, it seems he did not thorw everyone's sorry ass out
and turn the dogs over to an adoption group or a group that could retrain them, IMHO, he is just as guilty.

I just saw this too that the NFL has told him to stay away from training camp.
Good thing, but a bit too late/convenient on the NFL'S part since Vick will be a bit busy.. , exactly on the same date that training camp starts.
Don't get me wrong, very glad, but it's a bit late. Public outcry is what caused this, I don't really feel like saying kudos to the NFL.
I f'n love pro football, but for many reasons I am beginning to sour on some levels.

It won't matter, he'll be getting his shit pushed in by a big ugly dude named Betty before long.

As I have said before, a reporter for the Houston Chronicle is all about adopting animals from shelters has stated he will picket the Falcons-Texans game on 9/30/07 if Vick is there. Never thought I'd be on a picket line, but if he's there - I will SO be out there with a picket. This is disgusting. There should not even be a QUESTION if he's allowed to play. Conduct like this should void his contract. Such crap.

Stepping off soap box now.

Yup, Harrington will start the season at QB. The trial won't even begin until the season is almost over, so the Falcons will wait to see if they are able to trade him to a team who ends up desperately needing a QB. He won't play another down for the Falcons.

Culpepper is looking for a team. They'd be crazy not to go get him.

The NAACP has just released a statement condemning the NFL and general public for "Piling On" a yet-to-be-convicted black individual.

A year ago, prior to judgement being rendered in the Duke lacrosse scandal rape case, they posted on their site "82 Reasons Why The Duke Players Are Guilty."

Take your hypocrisy, stick in your ass and set fire to it, you 1-way bunch of snakes.
