That album was very promising. Livin' to Do was a definite standout. Higher Place, Kiss Me Softly also very good and I loved World Gone Wild because it rocked pretty hard(actually campaigned to get it added to the U.S. version on Back Talk)

Unfortunately, the album did not rock hard enough, and was too focused on being the "too commercial soft-rock" "Journey" of the past, and in addition the label was not supportive.

"Livin' to Do" is the shit. That song was the highlight of the Indianapolis show in 2001.

I agree. World Gone Wild has one of the best Schon jams I have heard in many years. Sounds great cranked up in the car. Vocals seemed to mixed poorly though

I agree the vocals were poorly mixed, actually the whole song was mixed poorly, drums sounded really strange/not clean as they did on the rest of the album. I think because they had not planned to add it to the U.S. release, and only after a big campaign on BT to do so, they decided to add it, so they did a rush recording/mix of it to get it on there.

If they would have made the album much more of a rocker with songs like WGW, they might have had a chance to make a small break from the Perry years (in rocking more than in the past), but I'm sure Sony pushed them to be sappy/commercial.

Livin to Do was also the highlight years back in Pittsburgh. Written also by Neal's dad. Live and Breath (first verse) was the intro to WITS for the Vacation's Over tour and I was always like , "Wow, what kick ass intro" and then next year the same vox were on Arrival....Very cool!!!! Both are highlights on Arrival.

Take a listen to Kiss Me Softly- has AOR and total finesse all over it. Fits in Journey as well as any other drummer. I think YOU are the fish out of water in this post....

I understand what you are saying. Take SS sor example. That's even more Deen's style. He did play for Ozzy and some heavier bands over the early years.
I would guess that Deen would mush more be playing to Chain Reaction, Back talk and songs there of....He definately not a shitty drummer.....Deen's all class too.....Took care of my kid big time.
