"The show started with "You Really Got Me." Dave was standing on the
high part of the "S" stage above Alex waving a giant Red flag as the
show began. Then he threw the flag down, and for the first time in
over 22 years, David Lee Roth sang on stage with Eddie Van Halen."

"VH storm the stage at 8:30 sharp. You really got me. Crowd goes nuts. Followed by Im the one, which is a surprise as Romeos Delight was believed to be the 2nd song. Dave sounds Great. Eddie is on fire. I guess sobriety agrees with him.
Running with the Devil is on now, Holy shit, wofie is pounding the bass and his harmonies are spot on! Dave's not exactly hitting the high notes but no one cares. VAN HALEN IS BACK!
They are are stopping after every song and Dave is being Dave, scatting and ramblng on like only Dave can.
Atomic Punk is followed by Everybody wants some. Seems like the first 40 minutes of the VH reunion is a success. The set list is a VH fan's wet dream. Alex is pounding the kit like it's 1978 and Wolfie has the energy of a teenager...wait he is one! Nothing like your first gig ever to be in front of 15,000 of David Lee Roth's closest firends! Wolf has been using every inch of the stage, if the tour lasts he may shed that baby fat yet!
It's pretty shocking that Eddie is not using a wireless set up on his guitar and is staying pretty close to the mic to help with the backing vox.
Pretty Woman followed by Alex's drum solo. For a nearly 60 year old dude he is fucking incredible."

"Unchained was next and it gave Dave time for a wardrobe change. Eddie is incredible. All guitar players should learn from the master. He's sober and no one can touch him! Great touch as Wolfie chimes in with the gimme a break line. This show is one for the ages!
I'll Wait includes a hidden synth/keyboard player, but that can be forgiven, as we can also forgive Eddie for messing up a bit during the song, because this is VAN FUCKIN HALEN.
Call FEMA, Charolette has been devastated by hurricane VAN HALEN.
Hot For Teacher, every school boy's dream has the sold out arena in a frenzy"

"Time to slow things down. Dave and his acoustic guitar, reminicing about high school in 1972 and Ice Cream. That's right Ice Cream Man, complete with Dave using a headset, leading right into Panama! This night will surely go down in the history books as the night good ol' fashioned Hard rock made a comeback."

here's the deal people. just got off the phone with georgeM who was cool enough to call me

he says whatever you need to do to see this show, get it done. he said the reviews from the rehearsals were very accurate.

some other highlights-

wolf sounded great on vox and kept up with the band, did not seem nervous.

dave sounded excellent and actually sang the songs.

ed sounded amazing and the solo was great.

also said after they got done with i'm the one, that ed and dave looked a bit choked up, almost like some tears were being shed. he said the 2 of them spent the entire show pretty much right next to each other

george was in front of ed in the ramp

awesome shit he said

said it's faaaaar better than 04!

Some reports coming in at EVH.com are saying the Dave was pretty choked up towards the end of the show - too cool.

women in love intro it was beautiful.
Seeing em again Philly on the 3. DAve sounded great. Wolf was kind of
a non factor but he can fucking play."

It was the SHIT. As others have said, do what you have to do to go see this tour.

Random observations, not from a complete fanboy point of view:
Yep, Dave spent a good portion of the show near Eddie.
Still worked the crowd a good bit.

He sings a bit more than he used to. Still ducks lines here and there. Got all sorts of lyrics backwards. (example: Pretty Woman, he did the whole first and second verses in reverse)
No "I forgot the fuckin' words" tonight, though.

He still has a little bit of a scream he can break loose with occasionally.

Dave is still Dave. That's a good thing, for the most part.

Eddie....wish he'd use a wireless. He's still chained to the cord, so he can't move around too much. He was just tearing up during the songs. I'll have to say, and I'm a huge fan of his playing, that his solo was pretty boring. His playing during it seemed slow. But didn't seem that way during songs.
He's a bigger part of the backing vocals than he's given credit for, that's for sure.

Wolf....the kid can play. Period. Either his voice hasn't changed yet, or it isn't going to....he spoke several times and has a pretty high voice.
His backing vocals....good. He doesn't not have the vocal power that Mikey does. Very evident during Pretty Woman....on the original, Mikey sang along with Dave...so Wolfie did that, too. You could definitely tell a big difference, but that's not saying he sucks or can't sing at all. He still sounds good.

Alex....was Alex. Solid drum solo, for those who care about such things. Played great otherwise.

Sound...they had some feedback problems. Dave went to the side of the stage once, called someone over and had a word with them. Still had lots more feedback problems throughout the night. It was the first show, I'm sure they'll get that ironed out.

Overall....again, if you're a Van Halen fan, you need to see this show. I'm going again Saturday to Greensboro.

That bad? Oh well. I'll be out in the parking lot during that part of the show for sure. I'm not much into rap.

I'll bet Little Guitars kicked ass. I wish I had a ticket for one of the first 10 shows. Saint Louis is the 16th show in the tour. I hope the honeymoon's not over yet by then.
