I for one am glad you are listening to real music, and not just the unmemorable, nondistinctive shlock that big record companies are force-feeding the masses.
You have a critical point -- music is all about what it means to YOU, and not to other people. You grew up pretty much w/Augeri, so to you, that's your Journey. It's kinda like comic book debates... your take on a character is usually based on the era you grew up reading him in, and people should respect your opinion. Discussions and even debate are still great, because maybe people can turn each other on to things they haven't experienced yet, but respect is key.
Anyway, I was only lurking during all the fighting, but if you hadn't requested those two songs, I might never have heard them myself, so thanks! Glad to have ya here!

So many people want to feel superior they'll say anything to get attention.
Schone Rules All, if you were trashing JSS you should have been prepared for others to trash Augeri.
I like them both. I love Steve Perry.
I'm not gonna trash anyone's taste in music because music is very personal and shouldn't be scrutinized by others and it should never be a contest as to who is the best because it all depends on what you like.
Most singers realize it's not about being "better" it's about being the best YOU PERSONALLY can be. I don't think most singers worry about other singers, we just sing, it's the people that usually have no idea how to sing or what it takes that are quick to judge.
Enjoy your music, and if you don't want it trashed, don't trash other's taste either.

Haha.... see, now you are teaching an old dog new tricks! I'm in my 30's, and I haven't gone back that far yet.

That means that I was not at the record store the day "Escape" came out, or at the Philly stadium for the legendary "Frontiers" tour, or even lucky enough to be old enough to have seen Journey before Steve Perry. I never got the feeling of rushing to the store, racing home, and throwing on the new Journey material. I was born into it. So, when Arrival came out. I FINALLY got that. I think that has alot to do with what Augeri's Era of Journey meant to me. For me, Augeri meant something, he symbolized something.

Recently, I requested 2 songs that are EXTREMELY hard to get from Steve Augeri. Let It Go, and Im not that way. These two songs are in my top 20 favorite songs of all time. I cant express how much I appreciate the swiftness and the kindness I was shown in getting these songs to me. You guys are the best. I was shocked by this because of the following...
Some few months ago I was banned from this site.
When news broke about Sotos departure, I wrote a pretty ugly post called "I told you so!" Basically targeting the people that were anti Augeri and pro Soto. I had a hard time accepting Tapegate. I still dont believe it 100 percent, but I at least consider the possibility. What hurt the most about it all though was that it felt like, and it was like, people attacking MY favorite singer and telling and saying things like he was completly talentless. I took speacial offense to that. I have been 2 feet away from the man as he reached out his hand to grab mine as I sat front row, dead center, and heard the song come from his voice. I remembered all the joy the Arrival, Red 13, and Generation's CD brought me.

I really could give a Flyin f if they had hits with him. Im sorry but these days, hits are not what they used to be. Britney Spears is on the top of the charts this very moment, not because of the quality of her song, but the catchiness and her media awareness and limelight.
Many of you have been called "loons" referring to your undying loyalty to Steve Perry. That man is amazing. Simply gifted from god. But he is not doing anything with it. Trial by Fire came out when I was like 12, and I was so amped and so ready for everything that was to come from the re-union, but it never happened. I felt like there would never be a time when I could see my favorite band live ever. But I see why your loyalty lies with him.
I cherish and know, word for word, every single song he has ever recorded. But for me, he will never take the feeling I get when i hear Higher Place, or Live and Breathe, because I was there for that! Because I got to experience it when it was "open the box smells brand new." Because that man made it possible to see and hear music that had meant so much to me my entire life. Maybe some of you will understand what Im saying, maybe some of you wont. I just want to express my apologies to those that supported JSS. I attacked because I had been hurt and angered by peoples words that wanted to burn my favorite singer at the stake.
I honestly to this day dont really know how I feel about JSS, and now I never will. I will be honest and say that I absolutely DID NOT like what I heard and saw from boots, but I dont think that was a fair shake in his eyes for me. I was gonna buy the cd. But to those that always supported JSS, I know where your coming from. I do.
Wheather you are a Perry Loon, And Augeri Head, or what ever the hell you Soto fans call yourselves =), in the end, the music hits our very own ears, and we should never let anyone cloud our judgement as to who we should and should not deem our favorite. I dont care if you prefer Rolie, who was excellent in his own right btw. EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THERE OWN PREFERENCES.
As for me being booted from this site, I dont know if it was because my IP address changed, or because the ban was lifted, but I am glad that I have been given a second chance here. I don't post alot, because I dont like to speak without reason behind it. For the Journey fans that are still here, we are all hanging on to something. Some hope that we will feel the magic again that no other band can give us. Maybe Steve Perry will come back? Maybe Steve Augeri will come back? Maybe Jeff Scott Soto will get a fair chance? What ever it is you ask for of this band, dont forget everything They HAVE given us, and don't stop beliven.

LMAO, I'm not nearly as anal retentive as you, but that is actually one of my pet peeves also..........when people don't use "an" before a vowel.
