Isn't that the POINT to get your "Voice Heard"....???

Hell, that's what TRAG....and other UNKNOWNS....are doing....

EVERYONE ~ and you-all KNOW what I mean by "Everyone" should take COMPLETE ADVANTAGE of this.

 Because, hey....if you're already "Dialed-In" to wanting to KNOW what's going on with YOUR FAVORITE ARTIST, you're gonna pay attention....

Do you agree?

Seriously ~ What are your thoughts? ESPECIALLY with the "Gestapo Tactics" of Clear Channel and such... :x

OK:

In a hypothetical situation.....Say that SP came out with a new CD....but, he's NOT GOING TO TOUR....

...BUT ~ you were able to find out about this, because you ALREADY KNEW about "FanAsylum"....and that's where you got the info.

You see what I mean?

I said it before; I'll say it again...for the 3rd time, because IMO it's worth repeating....

...because I don't like HOW these Classic Rockers are being treated today....and THEY are the ones who SET THE @#$%ING GROUNDWORK!!!

Cribbed from AR's post here a few weeks back:

Clear Channel More Interested In Playing Old Music Than Music By Old People

Fox 411 columnist and Jann Wenner enemy Roger Friedman is alleging that the radio monopolists at Clear Channel have flat-out told the programmers at their rock stations that they can't play tracks from Bruce Springsteen's Magic, despite the album being No. 1 on the charts last week. Songs from the Boss' vault, like "Born To Run" and "Born In The USA," are OK, and that's causing Friedman to cry ageism:

Clear Channel seems to have sent a clear message to other radio outlets that at age 58, Springsteen simply is too old to be played on rock stations. This completely absurd notion is one of many ways Clear Channel has done more to destroy the music business than downloading over the last 10 years. It's certainly what's helped create satellite radio, where Springsteen is a staple and even has his own channel on Sirius.

It's not just Springsteen. There is no sign at major radio stations of new albums by John Fogerty or Annie Lennox, either. The same stations that should be playing Santana's new singles with Chad Kroeger or Tina Turner are avoiding them, too.

Like Springsteen, these "older" artists have been relegated to something called Triple A format stations -- i.e. either college radio or small artsy stations such as WFUV in the Bronx, N.Y., which are immune from the Clear Channel virus of pre-programming and where the number of plays per song is a fraction of what it is on commercial radio.

Clear Channel is a business, they're aren't doing anything if it's not making them money. You want to hurt them? Simply don't tune in. That's what I do.

I must have missed the intent of the post, though, because it sounded like a call to action. Is it to call Clear Channel, or stations in general, and ask them to start playing older artists?

How would playing new music by classic rock artists hurt them? If anything it would help the ratings especially if radio stations were allowed to play new Springsteen, Eagles, Rush, etc. That is what is so stupid about it all. In the long run it would help the declining music industry. If new music was able to reach the casual classic rock fan via radio then that would in turn drive up CD sales. It makes no sense to me. I can’t blame bands like STYX or even Journey for not wanting to put out a new CD because only the hard core fans will buy it and that is just not enough.

I found this exchange very interesting:

From the "Ray Foley Show" ~ phone interview ~ Sept. 4, 2007:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IE9Chh3hV9o

Ray Foley: "...we're only a new show [in Ireland], but as soon as we started backing "Don't Stop Believin'" to get it into the charts, [the listeners] shot up as well. We've got like 24,000 extra listeners BECAUSE of you and your song."

Steve: "You know what's amazing to me is - America USED to be like you're telling me right now, where DJs would just, on their own fruition, decide that they BELIEVE in something, and then they would go ahead and play it because they BELIEVE in it, and it wasn't so - dare I say - "Corporate" and "Shut-Down" as it is now - and if it wasn't for DJs like YOURSELF, Journey would've NEVER HAD A CHANCE to become ANYthing - because that's the way it USED to be here...and it's so refreshing to KNOW that you're still doing something based on a faith and belief: you LIKE IT, you're gonna PLAY it! It's rare; it's VERY rare..."

You and I know that, but the suits at Clear Channel don't. They have a cloned formula they use locally at everyone of their stations nationwide. It's it making money, they won't change it. Again, you want change? Stop listening.
