Yes, they are because they sure don't pack stadiums anymore.Jeremey wrote:Something to keep in mind - Corporate and fairground dates are the most profitable gigs there are for the band!

you said the same thing this month last year... BAWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHa.. sorry
So you're telling me that Journey decided to showcase the new singer to...A fucking private convention??? You've got to be kidding! I can't even imagine that Azoff thought this would be a great way to show the world the new guy? (hitting my head repeatedly against the keyboard, pause, repeatedly hitting my head against the keyboard again!!!) Damn I need some tylenol! This bands decisions are REALLY making my head hurt!
I know it's their band, their name, their gig, but I just don't follow the logic of these guys sometimes. FUCK!!! (Sorry, I feel better now!)
You are forgetting that these conventions are huge and the payday is well worth it. A lot of bands do this, the details just don't get posted on message boards everywhere (sorry guys!)

Yes, that will be the theme song, at which point every broker in the country will contact Steve Perry to ask him how he feels about the song being chosen, how he felt when he wrote it, and why he believes the song is still relevant today, and his interviews will be featured in Realtors' publications nationwide. As usual, no one will bother to contact any current Journey members for comments.

Cain and Schon both had interviews posted here during the Sopranos thing.

Yeah. 1 each. Perry had at least 6 that I saw.

They cost less money, and the money goes directly to the band - By the way, I'm using Journey as an example here, but this goes for any major rock act today...And these aren't real numbers either, just to be clear, I'm making these figures up to illustrate a point...
Think about it like this: Tour with package deal like Aerosmith, make roughly $200,000/show. Maybe 60% of that goes to production, staffing, and fees, and the band is likely renting production from the headliner rather than have to haul loads of semis along just for half a stage show. Band makes maybe $80k for the show, less management's 15%.
Then look at it like this: McDonalds or the Georgia State Fair approaches the band and offers $125,000...Band brings instruments, and pays for a fraction of crew to tech the show for them. Venue supplies all production and spec'd staging. Around 30% of that goes to management fees and production crew, if that. So payday for that show would be around $90k, including management fees.
That's pretty much how it works, I think.
