You guys want someone running around or singing the hell of the tunes? I'll take vocal acrobatics over physical acrobatics anyday!

And I'll take both thank you very much. JSS has lots in his catalogue that shows he's got the pipes. I'm sorry and maybe it's just me, Arnel's got a great voice but there is nothing unique about it at all, he tries too hard to sound exactly like Perry. When I listened to that youtube of SP/SA/AP singing Faithfully, it actually turned me off how much he sounded exactly like Perry, at least SA had a little something different vocally. I don't want a replica of Perry's voice when I can listen to the original. :? All 3 of my favorite singers couldn't sound more different, but all are blessed with soul and THE best delivery.

Here's a demo of Good Love - all the harmonies are Jeff's.

We were offered both with others that were looked at in the past.
Even had both when Soto was hired.

By this time next year we'll probably be saying the same thing about the Arnel faction for the same reason. Just like we were tired of the Augeri faction whining and crying this time last year (for the same reason).

:?

If that's the case I'll tell them the same thing.

And gawd knows we'll all still be here reading you telling the people that are on their 11th singer that same thing.

Yeah, Arnel has zero stage presence, great voice but is he frontman material for a legendary band like Journey?
Seriously, the videos I've seen are in pretty dismal clubs.
Ever play in a boring, empty club? Kinda hard to be KISS in that environment...
Wait until he's actually out in front of a real audience.
I don't care who you are, you grow stage presence (good or bad) in that situation.
That one doesn't fly with me. JSS has as much stage presence in front of 50 people as he does in front of 20,000. At the Coach House show, which was a 'sit down' affair. Some people stood up here and there and were asked to sit down by staff. Well, a third of the way into the show, JSS just parked his butt down on the stage and said he was going to sit too. Needless to say the whole joint was on its feet after that. LOL, now that's called "controlling a room".
Yep Jeff has "it"........ even on a piano, in a hotel bar, no microphone. (dude doesn't even need a microphone) He's the real deal.

Too bad. Dave (Journeyman28) is a long-time respectful poster. I for one, enjoy his posts.....whether I agree with them or not.

Thanks Deb. I didn't even catch that he was talking to me. I guess it would have helped if he used the quote function.

Hey CHF, I ain't askin' ya to care about me. But maybe you should try being more rspectful of everyone's opinions...we all got the right to 'em.

Besides, I would bet that Neal will be the front guy in this version.Look at Cheap Trick. Robin Zander is a KILLER singer, but it's Rick Nielsen that
fronts that band. I would bet that Neal will be doing it.
Well, that's what Neal has wanted all along.

I think that may have been a factor why JSS is gone. However, that is exactly what made the later versions of the SA fronted Journey kind of boring (IMO). I could only watch Neal's fingers fly for so long...and he hardly moves off his spot anymore. The trading off in the past is what made Journey such a good "team"...especially with Rollie. JSS brought back a show! Will they now? I guess we'll see.

No excuse for a lack of stage presence. What I lacked in natural talent - I had to bust my balls just to have an adequate rock voice after a lifetime of music theater training - I made up for in performance. Whether the club was dank and dark or acoustically nightmarish, I gave 100% every night, whether or not there were 25 or 250 people at the show. I cared about the music I was singing. So I think the jury is very much out on Pineda as to whether or not he has any moves and will be able to fire up an audience like Jeff. I doubt it.

You don't have to be sorry Deb, that's your opinion and your completely entitled to one. We're in America where everyone has the right to one and it means absolutely nothing if it's a false opinion. There's a reason Arnel's where he is. Lets stay tuned for the album that's suppose to be coming out in Feb 2008 and then we can go from there. I'm looking forward to hearing it, not so sure everyone shares the same anticipation as I do, but that's cool. I prefer to own vintage muscle cars that burn lots of oil and gas and show no mercy when the peddle is punched to the floor, and some prefer a gay front wheel drive hybrid that winds out going up simple mountain roads. But hey that's what it's all about.

All the best,

K

True, everyone has the right to make there mark on the world.
I don't mind sharing the road with the hybrids
as long as they obey the traffic laws.

Let them save gas & allow us to be less reliant on gas.
actually its the right thing to do
so the few of us who have the 8 cylinder lushes can still enjoy the ride of our choice...

Just Curious...but what's up with the porn/reality TV figure Ron Jeremy Siggy?

Not to make light of the Odessy Rental commercial in N Hollywood....Guess an actor has to take what he gets.
Lame portfolio but still more amusing than Erik Estrada selling swamp land
oppps..."Investment Property"
on a former toxic waste dumpsite.

You come a long way baby///

So I wish Arnel & the New Journey many happy miles together.

No pun intended.

Why did they let Jeff go for this guy??

What, you haven't figured it out?
They actually had to pay Jeff a salary!

Arnel's going to have to sing 100-200 journey shows before his salary of 1/2 pound of ground corgi/per week kicks in!

I agree, 7. If you can't hack it in a small club environment (which I think is TEN times easier than in the larger settings) what the hell are you gonna do in an arena (or...uhh...county fair, or barn raising, or whatever the hell they'll be playing...)
As for AP's hiring being a "sound business decision" let's ask INXS how hiring an unknown worked out for them....
