I don't want to hear him sing the classics. I want to get used to his voice singing new Journey songs.

The thought of hearing Steve A sing the GH's terrified me at first. I bought Arrival and grew to like his voice long before I even considered purchasing the 2001 in LV DVD.

If he starts with any of the classics, he may as well still be in his cover band. He needs to establish himself as the lead singer for Journey with a few songs he can call his. After the fans get used to his voice, then it won't be so weird to hear him sing the hits.

But in answer to your question I'd want to eventually hear him sing "Escape" and "When You Love a Woman."

JSS did an excellent job on Opened the Door. :) Definately no shortage of soul with Jeff's vocals.

I gotta say, the only time I haven't totally cringed at hearing this material since Perry left was with JSS, and that is saying a lot for me, because I just hate hearing other voices covering that material. So far, JSS is the only exception to that. And there are certain songs that just kill me. I apologize to Augeri fans for the following comment - it's not ment as a knock on his singing (because I do quite like his singing), but my friggin' ears bleed hearing him sing Stone In Love. I never had that reaction to JSS's renditions on any of the J material though.

Yep Deb!! That was one of the Florida concerts I was talking about. I only saw it live in Orlando and it was soulful enough to practically bring tears to my eyes. I was amazed.
He also rocked Ask the Lonely in Fresno. Superb.
