as much as i love the band i'd say they've shattered it.the jury is out on if arnel will pump anything worthwhile into the catalog.i'd love to see them do well again creatively but the odds at this point are firmly not good to be honest.they might continue to be a live force but as a recording unit that well might be dry for good.i guess we will see.....
and yet they still don't hear him....wow...

he's thinking, maybe i can tour bars all over the country for MY FANS and give them the real journey not the fake one, even though "i never felt part of the band", because i was journey, i wrote all of the hits by myself, im the greatest singer ever, they cant replace me and play shed every year.
oh wait i dont really care
sorry

I personally think this might be a "premeditated" move by the band to force SP out of the shadows.

It worked that way prior to TBF...perhaps they are trying their last ditch effort to get him to come back for a reunion.

I don't know what SP would be thinking, but I can see more & more why he'd never want to talk to these boneheads again.

Not buying that at all. They wouldn't have gone into the studio and layed down tracks if announcing Arnel as singer was just a move to lure Perry out of retirement. Arnel's going to front the band on the next album and tour, and Perry is still going to be retired.

Why wouldn't they? If SP didn't "take the bait" and come out of his hole, they would still have a singer lined up, material recorded (you know this wasn't a big budget recording...), and be rehearsed and ready to tour.

Go Buckeyes!

With Kevin Shirley at the helm I doubt they skimped.

"Relatively speaking" I'm certain they did.

Journey simply has NO MARKET for their music without Perry.

Cold, hard, FACT I'm afraid.

Nobody cares (or will care) about Journey with AP. That is the TRUTH of the matter.

Right, we have the benefit of hindsight for speculation. Generations was done on the cheap (in JC's home studio?). They didn't have a label to promote them and gave the cd away for free at the concerts. Now they've gotten big-shot producer Shirley back to helm, similar to the big push for new Augeri-fronted Arrival. Kind of makes one wonder how much promotion backing they are going to get with this latest incarnation of Journey? Is Sony back on board, or will it be strictly a Wal-mart brand?

This appears to be Walmart's baby so they don't have to pay Sony...

Ok...not a real world possibility, but...

What if Perry got together with Schon and Cain and at least wrote some songs. He could then produce or co-produce the CD for the band with next Perry sound-alike. Maybe even provide some harmonies and backing vocals. That would be somethin.

After listening to the classics tonight, I forget how much better the songwriting was when Perry was in the band. I also listened to his solo stuff and it showed there. I think that part of the equation is being missed...it's not just the "voice."

1. What do you think Perry is thinking about all of this, if anything??
2. Do you think he cares one way or the other?
3. Do you think we will hear from him, either through the media or perhaps through new music?
4. Do you think this will force him to react in some way - again through the media or new music?

or.. do you think he will do nothing??

1. "Dear God, when is this gonna end?" AND "If I could go back, I'd have started a new band."

2. See #1.

3. No interviews answering what he thinks of the latest rendition of the Jband.

4. He'll make himself visible so people know he's not the Filipino singer of Journey.

Seriously though, I think the "legacy" haunts him. It's a "zombie" band. Despite the many lead singer changes, it never "dies" so he's always gonna be asked about whatever they're up to.

Regardless of how much cash dude has from it, I'm sure he has days where he doesn't wanna leave the house.

Seriously, would you want his life now?
