LOL!!! Sounds like you have the map to his return laid out for him! That's the solution -- an Extreme Makeover! :P We'lll also throw in a little "Bo" to tighten things up, and inject his lips for a little extra pout while he's singing those ballads!

Somebody call VH1..."Remaking Steve Perry"...

Steve Perry will always be my favourite singer - BUT, i wish he had Plant's work ethic - i am jealous of Zep Fans - cos these guys still work and it looks likely that they are gonna tour - and regardless of your opinion of Zep, it will be bigger than anything in history if they do the full blown thing.

I hope they do tour, I watched The Song Remains The Same last night, Jimmy Page blowns away Neal, Playing the guitar with a bow,and uses so many different styles in his playing. If they tour over here they will sell out everywhere. Id be first in line to see them

I'm actually happy to see Robert Plant looking like a normal man. I don't think he looks 70ish at all. Personally, I really hate it when celebrities try so hard to hold on to a youth that is gone that they end up looking like their faces are held up with safety pins. No matter how many times you lift that face, it's going to keep falling back down! The more work they have done, the more ridiculous they look. I'm all for growing old gracefully. OK, I color my hair, but that's it! I could use a breast lift (I'm a D, so no implants needed) so it wouldn't be so difficult to hold the things up! But that's about it! Lipo would be nice...

I just don't see the fascination with Led Zep. And I don't see what talent Robert Plant has. The man CANNOT sing. I mean this band is huge and I don't understand why. I hear Led Zep about every 20 minutes (literally) on Houston radio stations. :?: :?:

Nothing wrong with that. I don't get country music, so I'll probably not care for the Plant Krauss collaboration.

The influences here go beyond just country. This is a very cool collaboration...you ought to give it a listen; you could be pleasantly surprised.

Not absurd, it's my opinion. You have yours and I repsect it. My opinion is that he cannot carry a tune and sounds terrible.

Alright then, I'll give it a shot. I'll let you know what I think of it afterwards. May be a few days before I can get that done though.

I'd agree with this. It's a great album...and you don't have to be a fan of country or Robert Plant to get into it.

Can you pick a tune that you think he is not singing good on? I'm serious, I'd like for you to point out which tune that you've heard that you honestly feel is terrible singing. Thanks.

I'm not totally familiar with titles of LZ songs. But it's pretty much any of the popular ones you would hear on the radio. Kashmir is actually a pretty cool sounding song musically except for the vocals. When he starts getting into the 'whoa...oh..oh" part is sounds way off key to me.

In "black Dog"...the "ah-ah-ah-ah-ah" part....YUK. But then again the music is OK I guess.

"Ramble On" is a good song, Plant had an uncharacteristically good day when they recorded that song.

Basically LZ would be way better with a different vocalist in my opinion.

That's just a few that I can think of off the top of my head.

Well, Dude....to each their own. I'm not sure what era you grew up in, but Plant was/is considered the most charismatic rock front man EVER. He has huge stage presence. He is a an incredible lyricist, too. A well read, creative, free spirited rocker. The perfect compliment to Page's rambling solo's. I don't think any other singer would have indulged Page those lengthy solo's, other than Plant.

Steve Perry may have had a much better grasp of the Fountain Of Youth: No drugs, alcohol in moderation, and hopefully abstaining from nicotine. Anitoxidant supplements can sure help too!

Ok, first off, back then alot of the recordings from Zep were kept as is from the first few takes to capture that dynamic vibe they had. There was never alot of post production work done on vocals or drums in order to keep that initial vibe, etc. And yes on Kashmir some of the vox runs are a little flat, but it's more emotion/feeling than anything else at that point. Did Plant have off nights? Sure, was some of his recordings a little off? Sure. But you can't listen to STH and state the man has/had a terrible voice. The man can/could sing his ass off! But he routinely pushed things emotionally while performing and when that happens sometimes things vocally get a little off. Listen to some of his solo stuff later in his career when things were more polished/produced, some very lush, smooth, vocal work. "In The Mood" for instance. ;)

o.k., I don't post much here on the Journey board, but I've got to say to KenTheDude.... Dude, are ya nutty?!?!?.. Clean out your ears, Percy has one of the most fabulous and recognizable voices in Rock, maybe not what it used to be to be sure, but who's is.. he still sounds damn good! (note the Kashmir clip) Led Zeppelin with another singer? Bite your tounge, wouldn't have had the magic and wouldn't have been Zeppelin as he was a huge contributor to their catalog, also, Jimmy would never have found John Bonham to take the drums as he was a bandmate of Robert's already.

Yeah, he may not be aging as well as others, but remember, it's the miles on the car not the year, and he put on a lot of miles in the late 60's and all of the 70's. I think he will be 60 this next year.

Disclaimer: The above is opinion. Due to the Zeppelin frenzy which has quite overtaken me the last few weeks I may have lost some of my rational thinking and ability to believe others may not agree with me on this topic. Apologies.

Yea, Plant looks and sounds about a day younger than God.

But to have him back with Page and Jones, IN Zep is what it's all about.

I also don't think perry, who's face is a reasonable fascimile of a squirrel gearing up for winter now, is much better but then when I'm on 60's heels it will be the same shit, so so what? He still LOOKS like perry.
