Hi, well ive finally joined after months of just spying on the site, i thought it was about time i make myself known.

Im 18 years from Liverpool, England. The Americans on this site may find it difficult to imagine how hard it is to find other teenages my age who love Journey, or who have even heard of Journey.
Sadly in all my efforts ive never been able to convert anybody into a true Journey, but at least young people in my area actualy know who Journey are now.

I'am a massive Journey, (except ive still yet to purchase the 3 original records), i first heard Journey when may Dad bought Trial By Fire In 1996. i was only 8/9 at the time and used to refer to it as "the cat cd". But it took a few more years until i became a true fan.

I love everything Journey from the Perry era, until yes, the Augeri. I thought, and still think, that Arrival is a fantastic album, with some very strong songs. Generations and R13 . . not so much. When Jeff was annouced as lead singer i was very wary, some of the clips i saw of him left some things to be desired, but never the less i looked more and more into him and thought that it just might work, i then went to go and watch Journey live in March and he was just amazing, you could see that Jeff had just woken this sleeping band up. However obvisouly it was not to be, and bitterly dissapointed that he was let go.

NOW, onto Arnel. I remember watching him sing Faithfully on youtube a long while a go, and thought it was very good, but i thought nothing more of it until the rumours started circulating so i looked at more and more videos. Personally i just think he is fantastic, he has the vocal abilities of Perry (..well maybe not 1981 Perry, but who does) but i dont see him as a complete Perry soundalike. The song that really sold him to me wasnt actually a Journey song, it was this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPv9NXZhODE

An amazing vocal performance in my opinion/

Although Arnels appointment was a bittersweet one for me as i was still dissapointed with no JSS, ive got over that now and am very excited to hear this new record, particually the way Kevin Shirley has been talking about.

Top Journey Albums (top favourite, bottom least favourite) :

Escape
Trial By Fire
Frontiers
Arrival
ROR
Infinity
Evolution
Generation
Red 13

Yes i did originally say that TBF is my favourite Journey record, however the number 1 choice had to be "if i deleted every Journey album from their Discography, wich one would i keep", and it has to be Escape, because of the amount of Dirty Dozen on it i cant live without.

My short opinion on Steve Perry, some days i dont know if i want to kiss him or hit him. I listen to his music and its just the most incredible thing in the world for me, but after its finished, i always start a rant that he needs to give us more. But i guess at the end of the day, maybe he doesnt owe us anything, he brought out albums, we bought them, he goes on tour, we watch him. I think ive pretty let go of that "fact" that Perry isnt going to release anything new now, solo or with Journey. I think Perrys solo stuff is great, Particually What Was and One More Time. I love Everything on the greatest hits from the unreleased Against The Wall, and Captured by the Moment to me is a haunting song.

I relise this post is jumpy, but i wanted to try and give my short opinions on the main topics of Journey.

Thank you for your time :D

Welcome fellow country mate. Remember to roll with punches in the short term as you are likely to be thought of as Susie by some until proven otherwise.

Did you manage to catch Journey in the UK with JSS earlier in the year?

Yeh i was reading about all that Susie stuff.

I did yes, was fantastic. Went to watch them in the Manchester Apollo, yourself? Dean had a cold at the time, which was a bit dissapointing.

Jeff sure does put on a great show. I wonder if the Arnel fronted Journey will make it to the UK? Fairly uninteresting story but Journey were going to play at Plymouth Pavilions in the UK but the show booker for the sh!thole site didn't have a clue who they were and passed! Instead we have all the rejects from X-Factor (UK's version of American Idol) and some bloody Russian ballet on ice!

We did get Judas Priest though and more recently Black Sabbath - sorry - Heaven & Hell with Iced Earth supporting!

Welcome aboard Genera. Liverpool England....that's cool. I remember when I was 18 I was fascinated with that city because of all the old black and white photographs I had looked at of the Quarrymen. I was a late bloomer so to speek and I got into that music during my very first few years of being a teen.

Anyways, welcome aboard.

Welcome YKMW. I love your synopsis. And I agree What Was is one of my favorite also.

I am still amazed at how intelligent 18 year olds are these days. I don't think I would have been able to articulate my self anywhere near the way you have.

Have fun and stay thick skinned.

Now, folks, she isn't "Susie." How do I know? Look at the way she spelled "realise." With a "s" not a "z." Susie is too fucking stupid to fake shit that well.
